Clicky Audio

Bit of an issue with the audio in game.

Basically any sound will have the typical "insufficient buffer" clicking while it plays. Engine sound, afterburners, music. Any sound in game will have this constant clicking mixed in with it.

I think its because i can't select my soundcard driver. The game only lets me select the windows wav driver. I have a Soundblaster Live! Drive IR soundcard, so its not as if my soundcard is crappy or anything, i just can't use its driver!

Is there a fix to make the game detect other sound drivers, or is it currently locked to the windows wav driver while support for other drivers is implemented?

You're not thinking of the same driver as the game is. The Creative driver connects the Windows WAV driver to the hardware. Every app on your system is using the Windows WAV driver for output, unless it has EAX support, in which case the app might directly access the Creative hardware. The problem doesn't lie in VO's driver selection, I can tell you that.

I'm having this problem as well. Running under Vista. Haven't noticed this sort of issue in any other game or app. Any fix or workaround (other than muting the audio)?

The effects and music all have a constant (every second or so) "Click" noise. Quite annoying.

I'm also having this problem running under Vista, (Yes, I installed Vista on my PC, I had to, not *wanted* to, long story) - and although I do not experience this in many games (infact, some play better than in XP) I do believe it is a driver issue, not a VO related issue. Maybe its because like, Vista has only been out, what a Week?

I did manage to get the XP driver for my soundcard installed and working fine though, so thats what I would suggest to TroysBucket, and to the first poster if he is also running Vista.

Hmm.. you know this is an issue only with VO that I can see right now. All other games I have tried to do not have this issue with Vista.

Not to point fingers.. who knows why.. Microsoft has completly re-designed the audio architure in Vista. It really is nothing like XP. However, I would imagine that in the end, audio should be handled the same to the end application.

Next week I can ask one of our audio driver engineers..

edit: If any of you have seen this issue with other games please let me know..

edit again: Also, if anyone's audio is fine and running Vista.. please let me know :)

Mine works fine in Vista, got some crappy sigmatel c-major card and am using the windows xp driver, if I use the driver that either Dell or Vista provides, my sound pops again. This DOES NOT work for one of my desktop systems that has a Creative Labs Live soundcard, the popping remains no matter what driver I use. (maybe I just got lucky.)

I sometimes get this in XP

Quitting and restarting the client fixes it for me.

Does it make the sound when you move your mouse?

I too have the problem, im running Vista, sound card is a conexant hd audio. The clicking comes and goes, I have adjusted everything and rolled the driver back, still the clicking continues. It dosnt make any difference if the mouse is moving or not. It only seems to happen on VO so not sure what it can be.

Add my name to the clicky audio crowd. My new rig runs Vista64, and everything is fine except the audio in Vendetta.

new pc, vista 64 bit, about to goto bed, plays on COD 4 and other games ok with great sound

using a realtek onboard sound, with the latest drivers

if the only way to play the game is to have no sound, suspect will not bother with the subs as sounds of being shot at are a good hint for stuff :)

One would hoep the devs could have replied, but not interested instaling xp drivers over the xp ones to get the game to work and then have potential hassles with the other games that did work

scraggles did you try manually adding dsound=0 ?
the devs are not obliged to respond to anything in this forum, did you try emailing them politely? most times a VO player responds for them, aka this post :P
ask yourself why you are the first to verbalise on this since september last year!
ask yourself how CCP would have responded to you.
don't use this as your excuse for leaving the game.
i would agree (being in SCAR) that there isn't the activity for serco that i would like in the game atm, if you can find that activity by carrying on being an eve-fan-boy, then enjoy :)
