Can we have an /ally command, so that ships /allied cannot damage each other?
I see that now, when grouped, ships has a white box around it. Maybe we can make them so they cannot hurt each other?

grouped ships can not hurt each other already
???
Last I knew, grouped ships not only could hurt each other, but any damage a group member did to another group member did not have factional repercussions!
(although I think it would be better if groupmates shared the same invulnerability as teammates)

well on Sunday I was grouped without being guilded and got no damage, then when I was guilded I still received no damage, I would suggest trying it out yourself. Maybe it was a bug on my end or something =)
I agree. It's pretty risky for the Black Lance guild, with members from all three nations, to avoid hurting each other in skirmishes. Unless it's changed recently then group mates can certainly hurt each other. I've used it for finding duellists over 3000m away.
johnhawl: Lemme guess... both you and the shooter were of the same faction.
If an /ally command is implemented, an /enemy command should be too. I know one or two people whom I'd dearly love to kill, but they're Serco.

good work softy2! way not to be lazy!! :D
annd i do believe it was a bug on your side as grouped or guilded i can still kill my itani friends.... at least i am pretty sure i can.

Ahh, yes, you are correct, we were of the same faction. I though that only counted in nation space, not grey, my mistake. =)
Hmm. Bilateral or unilateral, though? If it was unilateral, I could have you as /ally and be unable to shoot you, while you had me on /enemy and could shoot me. But if it was bilateral, nobody could use /enemy because most pirates wouldn't do a /enemy accept.
<vouches for /ally command.
as martin said it's a'bit of a pain to work togather as a group, and guild with a tri-national members.

I think it would have to be bilateral. Certainly for the ally option. The enemy option is an interesting one but I think that should be bilateral too. I think most pirates would do a /enemy accept.
Most of the pirates have no issues getting shot by people from any nation especially if it allows them to shoot back. It's only the special ships that make them keep their standings high.
I have -1000 KOS at the moment with the UIT. I'm an exile :D

Since I learned of this game from slashdot, and I bet a goodly number of Linux players might be slashdotters, too, I propose:
a /friends command
a /foes command
a /fans command
a /friends command
a /foes command
a /fans command
What about freaks? And where's my mod points!
The main reasoning behind an /enemy command would be to.../enemy certain people, and I know they would not accept, really limiting the purpose of the command. /ally should be bilateral, and /enemy should be unilateral and automatic. (i.e. you're not /allied with them any more, and they get a nice warning on their screen..."Solra Bizna is now your enemy!")

Bump
Damn am I hoping for the /ally command. I keep blowing up my own guild mates. :D
One option would be to tweak the /group command so that /ally could be used instead.

Yeah me too. I took some friendly fire last night when ganking B 8 with some other BL guys. (And we were grouped for those who thing grouping works to keep you safe. Trust me it's a myth)
Please. :D
Please. :D
Maybe sack the ally command, and just make group members be invunrible to damage..
Solra, you could always kill your Serco standing, kill said person, and then bot like hell =D

Just check your fire. Of course I'm in an itani-only guild, so I don't have to worry about it...
Smittens your post adds nothing to this discussion, please be more careful next time.
I agree with Solra on all accounts, but I can see how /enemy would need to be bilateral. For example, as UIT, I could just /enemy all the non-Viper UIT so I could pirate them while maintaining the protection from the Vipers my UIT standing would give me.

But then the VPRs could /enemy YOU. :P
