Repair speed

Since repair is free and now doesn't even require human interaction, how about adding a time element to repair.

Currently, all a player has to do is leave the fight and get to a station. In less than a minute they can be right back in the action. While this seems like a great tool for the action, I think it hinders realism (not all that important) and makes ships a bit too expendable in a fight. Players aren't simply going to ram or be so reckless in a battle if they know they have to wait a while for their ship to repair. Players will fight carefully if carelessness has real consequences.

Also, tying the speed to faction standing at the station could help keep players in check (if desired, which I'm not too sure about at this stage). The lower the standing, the longer it takes. (Why would a mechanic work hard for someone he doesn't even like!)

I know what some may be thinking, "I have to wait on something ELSE in the game now?!" With the news system, user would have something to read while they wait.

That's all I can think of on this one. Anyone else?

I think that's a pretty good idea. It could take a while to repair also, causing people to have backup ships while they wait on their primary to be repaired. Combine this with a little more ship customization and ship naming, and I can see people getting pretty attached to their ships.

Additionally, (now that repairs aren't free) it's a little unrealistic that the costs can be so high, when a simple repair module is so cheap. I think a better penalty would simply be the time it takes to patch a ship up, and restock ammunition.

If a station or Cap-ship could only repair/reload on ship at a time, it'd make being careful more important as you'd be wasting valuable resources and time. It'd also Limit mine deployment.

Well, at least he's searching before posting. I appreciate that.

The OP is an extremely good suggestion.

Yes, but the suggestion was made before repair fees were implemented. We have that caveat now, so the OP's suggestion really isn't needed (although it was an OK idea).
