update the givemoney command to support anyone anywhere whether they are on or offline. Basically make it ApplePay for VO.

this is been suggested for ages and I have always supported it. I think the way the current /givemoney works might not be such a simple change but i would for sure like it changed since it would make the game a little less tedious

I always wondered why we had to be in the same sector. New players always think that you can transfer money without the sector restriction and get confused and think they did something wrong or it isn't working. Also +1 to the offline money transfer but then we should change it so you see who gave you money, it should always show that no matter if you are online or not. It's confusing when you suddenly received money and there are 4 players in the same sector.

+1 but maybe for the sake intrestingfullness make it so there is a small fee (1% or so) for these kind of credit transfers. I mean, even bitcoin has fees (if you want your coin in any sort of fast amount of time). Face to face is free, everything else costs credits.
Why should we lose money in private player-to-player money transfers? This is just an anti-fun mechanic and the money would be wasted and vanish into thin air. And it would mean every time you want to transfer money you have to do math figure out how much you need to send extra so that the receiver gets the correct amount.
a fee added on top of the transfer amount would be cool. Then there is something credits go towards other than ship and weapons and rent. It's not like there isn't an abundance of credits in the game.
If you want a fee at least make it like the first suggestion and remove the fee once you are in the same sector. Maybe increase the fee with distance and you need to pay more if the other player is offline.

+1 to remote fund transfer.
Jesus Christ guys. I’ve given those merchant fee asshats so much god damn money in real life why would you want to bring that into the game, it’s conpletely pointless and tedious. People play games to relax not be reminded about how bankers have them over a barrel.
+1 to the ability to transfer credits to players in different sectors. And also when offline. It is a great idea. I also wondered why this was not implimented before.
Although the transaction fee part sounds good (free if in same sector, transaction fee if not), id rather it be discussed a bit more. No comment from me on that part.

+1 to original suggestion.
-1 to fees. That is ridiculous, as has been pointed out above.

+1 love the idea. If you intend to give money in a farther system their should be a fee. Maybe add 1-5% for every system
Fees are not ridiculous. As I previously stated, face to face transactions should remain free (cash has no fee). The fees are there because of convenience. Everywhere in the universe convenience costs money. The free things usually cost effort. Everything is a choice. Choose wisely.
Fees are tedious because they require math. If fees were to be implemented, then it needs to be calculated automatically and added on top of the amount you send.
E.g., /givemoney Player2 100 -> deducts 101 c from player 1 (100 credit transfer and a 1% fee) and player 2 receives 100 credits.
There should also be a warning about the fee before transferring money to a player not in sector. Make it a flat fee, not based on distance to make implementation easier.
Personally, i prefer no fee (echoing Heini's "anti-fun" mechanic).
Also, in general, it has to work regardless of whether a player is online or offline, otherwise rats could just give 1 credit to their least favorite players to see if they're online.

+1 and while your at it change it from /givemoney to /pay
Drevent, /alias pay givemoney; then /pay <args>?
It works that way historically, way back in the day, for technical simplicity (and certainty), because then the single sector has an authoritative lock on the character entries for the respective characters in the database.
These days, it's entirely possible for us to implement this, regardless of player "location" or whether they're online or offline.

Fees? Sounds silly to me, but everything else sounds amazing.
