If you have ever mentored new players before you would understand how helpful ultra charges are to them. I wouldn't nessesarily say the ultra charge is combat only because it can be equipped at zero license levels. Besides, the improved high drain power cell is far more a combat cell than the ultra charge. My suggestion is to start mentoring new players. Or, start pirating escort missions (yes, some escort missions drop ultra charges).

Or, buy them from one of the many shopbots that exist in the verse.

Also, getting to 100 queen kills isn't hard once you know how to queen.

100 queen kills can be done in 20 hours of game time easy if you put your mind to it. If you are killing static queens, it takes 10 minutes to follow the bots out, and 1 minute to kill the queen. So on average (with one other pilot) you can kill 5 queens an hour, so 20 hours game time for 100 queen kills. (Even faster game time wise if you just do crits.)

If the the badge to buy UCs was really going to change, i suggest something much more difficult. How about Leviathan Hunter III. Levi Hunter II already unlocks capital rail turrets. So the progression to Levi hunter III rewarding the player with a new item makes sense.

The fast charge requires combat 4 and trading 4 to buy. It is NOT a new player addon. Even swapping it for the ultracharge doesn't change that fact. As I said before, you can get Ultra charges by the dent/capella load for free if you just kill escorts.

So are you suggesting that Fast charge be the reward someone gets for mentoring 40 pilots? Because if you are, that doesn't seem like a good reward. Lots of people have done that badge the correct way. You would be kind of screwing them. How about you kill escorts instead. UCs are free that way and you can get a big stockpile.

Honestly its not that hard to kill a convoy full them and stockpile. All this suggestions says is that you are to lazy to play the game.

@wheiny, having been here a decade or so, I'm pretty aware of how important pvp is to the game. I'm also aware of how important social interaction is in an mmo.

Just because your personality prohibits you from creating a character among the six slots you get when you subscribe that's willing to mentor other people doesn't mean the rest of the game and its players are flawed.

I'm not known for being overly friendly in my game RP on any of my six toons. I, therefore, haven't the ability to purchase UCs from the station.

That said, I don't whine about it or expect a change to game mechanics to accommodate my assholish RP.

Some things need to remain rare and hard to get for the universe to remain interesting.

Im not even clear on what you want changed.

The uc mentoring is a tiny reward compared to the effort required. I wont pollute the work those players have done by taking the only real perk they ever got for it.

I'm going to +1 this because the current mentoring system is pretty broken. New players generally don't find out about mentoring until they are well past the level they are able to accept a mentor and the system as it stands is ripe for abuse of mentored alts gaming the system. That's not to say that people don't reach the threshold organically, but they generally have to do so by spamming/advertising their mentoring services which clutters up the chat hoping newbies bite.

I would suggest creating additional avenues to UC privileges through other game-play mechanics that also require group play such as a certain number of Levi kills, being original key owner of all conquerable stations for an extended period of time (30 days?), or other similar levels of team-related activity.
