Allow purchasing of Goliath v2

In addition to the manufacturable variant, introduce a purchasable variant (for RL money). Then, make it so whoever fires the killshot on this ship is awarded 40 million credits.

This purchasable variant would be exactly the same as the current one, but lacking any insurance policy.

Suggested starting price: $40USD

Suggested limitations:
-No insurance policy
-1 goliath per day, per account
-Owner cannot claim 40 million bounty
-If killed by NPCS, nobody gets prize

Prize seem silly and price to high. A 5-10$ goli would be nice

While I'm not necessarily against this suggestion, I'm quite positive that Incarnate has made it clear that we'll never be able to buy in game items with real money. If I'm wrong on this, I apologize.

Instead, I'd say leave everything how you suggested it, but make the purchase price something like 40-80 million credits. And maybe make it only available once every week instead of once every day.

Nobody wants to play a stupid pay 2 win game

That's not constructive JJ, don't be so toxic.

Another option is to offer a one-time "Capital Ship License" for 89.99-159.99 USD

Allows you to buy an uninsured Goliath(80m cr/7.99USD) or Trident Type M(210m cr/19.99USD) at Latos M-7

-1. This would be pay-to-cheat. Do not want.

-1, what JJ said. This pretty much makes the game p2w, it's pretty hard to lose a manned capship with the recent turret buffs to another player.

Also to prevent all the drama the forums would see if someone lost their 40$ to another player.

Oh that would be an every day post for sure, along with support tickets. That's why I suggested maybe keeping everything that he suggested, but take away the real money buy. Replace the $40 with something like 40 million credits.

It's pay to participate, not pay to win. Also it simultaneously paints an enormous target on the back of anyone flying it. Admittedly capship hunting weapons could stand to be improved, but 40 million for killing a goliath is no joke.

arronund's suggestion points to something that we have all known for a long time, which is that there is a large amount of people who are more that willing to shell out money for things that require insane grinds. Money has arguably long been the main reason this game hasn't flourished, and I've long thought that introducing creative things to pay for (other than skins, *yawn*) that also increase player interaction and gameplay is a win-win.

Darth is right, incarnate probably wouldn't go for this. But I think he'd be less inclined to offer capital ships for in-game credits because he would be missing out on the income generated by the subscription during the required grind (which the $40 was meant to represent....4 months of subscription).

I get the argument that paying to skip the grind also removes the potential to interact with people while they grind, but chances are you aren't going to interact with them anyhow. More over, chances are that whoever buys a $40 goliath is probably going to get bored sooner than later anyway and quit, so might as well get that $40 over to Guild Software and fund some more development rather than have them quit WITHOUT subbing at all because they don't like the grind.

It's pay to participate, not pay to win.

Deny all you want, but if there is a shortcut in a game that you can buy with IRL money in order to have an advantage over other non-paying players, it's called pay 2 win.

Simple as that. There's no need to play the semantics game.

I agree with both Greenwall and joylessjoker. Greenwall's points make sense, but joylessjoker is right about this being a version of pay to win. I think it might spark more interaction, but it'd also probably leave a terrible taste in everyone's mouth afterword. That's not necessarily a plus.

Also, considering that Incarnate has been pretty clear in the past about pay to win scenarios, I don't see this suggestion even getting a second of consideration. They could have monetized so many aspects of the game by now if they'd wanted to go that route or thought that they'd be successful with it.

I think exchanging the $40 with 40-80 million credits, and not allowing this version to have insurance is a much more plausible suggestion.

We agree to disagree, and yet agree.

Subscription is pay to win, delete it.

Nice one, Blaqk.

/me now waits for joyless to play the semantics game he claims there is no need for

A subscription, by definition, is pay to play. That's a whole lot different from pay to win. The argument that subscribers have more advantage over non-subscribers is moot. As far as VO goes, the subscribers are experiencing the full game. Once you're subscribed, you can't then pay more money for more advantages. Pay to win generally refers to an unending capability to continuously buy items or skills that give you advantage over those that don't buy these things. That doesn't exist here.

But anyways, we're talking about the possibility of adding some other variant of the goliath that is purchasable. Let's stay on topic please.

I like this suggestion but as Darth said INC will never go for buying ships with RL Cash. Switching it to 40 million in game credits we might have a chance of getting INC to go along with.

Darth is right, incarnate probably wouldn't go for this.

You're not some naive dumb guy, greenwall. You KNEW that inc wouldn't go for this. Thanks for wasting everybody's time.
