Now we have something to talk about!
Guilds are the reason that MOST people stick around VO.
I fully disagree. It maybe is a reason for some, but certainly not most. Player retention is being damaged by a long list of far more important things than guild maintenance.
I'm not saying updating the guild maintenance isn't a good idea. It is, as long as we don't put Savet in charge of it.

Greenwall doesn't like that some of his bad ideas conflict with my good ideas. But as guild maintenance czar, I'll be diplomatic and considerate of all bad ideas.
Thanks Inc, it is showing correctly now.
Personally, I just find the phrase "I am filled with not-caring" to be amusing. I even snorted when I read it.
Yoda is stressed out because of the impending return of Star Wars, which will take place in a post-Yoda era. He should probably go do some yoga and listen to some music.

Wow. What? My reference was to the concern that the guild administrative tools were scattered over both the game and website, instead of all being in-game. If people have to log into the website to change this particular thing, instead of using an in-game interface, I don't really care. At least for the moment.
I mean, I said that in the second paragraph of the same post.
(And yes, I was trying to be amusing)
I do want to make a lot of things better, later, but I can't spare the time at the beginning of this week. Yoda, you do remember that the freaking game-server crashed twice last week, right? What do you think we're working on?
It is possible to interpret anything said by anyone in the worst possible way. But it is dumb to do so.

I would just like point out the ratio of active players that are guilded versus active players that are not guilded.
And I'm not talking about someone's 5 other alts.
I'd be willing to bet that every non-alpha and non-beta active player was guilded within the first week of playing VO, if not sooner.
The faction and nation system actually matters less than guild politics. There are actual built-in conflict mechanics that are, for the most part, ignored and put aside in favor of using guild conflict.
This, to me, shows how valuable guilds actually are in VO.

There's no doubt they are valuable. But we don't know how many people try the game and quit without even trying a guild out. I'm guessing there's a lot of them.
Whether an interface checkbox is on the website or via an arcade in-game /command, really has no bearing on whether or not guilds are valuable.
If you guys want to have some elaborate debate about the value of guilds, that's fine, but maybe this isn't the thread for it. We already fixed what this thread was about. And the only thing I'm currently not-prioritizing here, is whether a checkbox is on a website or not-on-a-website; especially when said checkbox is likely to be a rarely used, long-term setting for any given guild.
If someone wants to accuse me of caring more about the game being online than the game's guild feature-set, I will totally agree with them. We had another hour-long outage tonight (maintenance related). <sigh>
Let's wrap this up, and take it elsewhere..
