Yeah, i'm not seeing a checkbox on the /x/guildinfo page. is it located someplace else?
Guild administration:
1. Commander can set a bunch of options because he's commander.
2. But there's some things council has to vote on, like appointing council.
3. But you can completely bypass that by posting on the forum outside of the game.
4. And on a separate page, you can control how it displays your members' login times.
5. But you can't control this from in-game, and it's a giant hammer all or nothing approach.
This is why we have things like this: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/30644
And this: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/2/30580
Broken implementations spread across multiple sources of configuration are not a good user experience, and only detract from the presentation of the game.

Yes, Savet, we know. Given our current pressures, I am filled with not-caring.
It would have been weeks or months to put it into the game interface, because of having to create a whole other communication channel to pass that information. We did it in a few minutes instead.
We will probably move most everything into the web interface, at some point.
Other issues, related to the Whistler forum thread, are on my radar, I have a whole section of design notes for future-guild stuff. But we're so far behind on major projects, that I can't burn a week on that right now.
So, yes, the interface is spread all over the place. Consider it the beginning of a change in where the guild administration info is located.

So uh, where's this checkbox?
Thanks inc, but I can't find it ?
Sooo, please try it again? Apparently Ray totally failed to test this. And it wasn't working at all. Great.
Anyway, it should be working now (in Ray's defense, the guy has a lot of irons in the fire right now).

confirmed
The MOTD has no effect on the in-game motd. Is this supposed to be working yet?
Cool feature if so. Would be great if it did the updated alert on guild chat too.

And prior MOTDs should me written to a log like guild and bank activity is.
+1 Savet's idea once again
I say we let Savet create a new guild structure and new organization mechanisms cause all his ideas are good ones.

-1 to Darth's idea about Savet's idea.
-1 to greenwalls idea about darths idea about savets idea.
+1 to TRS's idea about Greenwall's idea regarding Darth's idea.

Awesome words Inc, nice to know you do not care.

First off, I don't think that its awesome that Incarnate doesn't care about development of guild structure and maintenance.
However, it is awesome that he is willing to talk to us on an honest level and not bullshitting us. When you make comments that poke fun at him opening up to us about internal affairs, it probably only serves to influence him to not do this. This would piss everyone off even more.
If you don't like something that GS is doing or a direction in development that they are taking, then say that and give reasons as to why you don't agree. This would actually be productive and might serve some purpose. Don't make witless comments that don't really sum up why you even feel that way.
I mean...by all means, make your comments, but do know that they serve no purpose other than pissing in the devs cheerios (which may result in your PKs reset to zero).

Feel free to reset my stats to 0. All of them, it will only take me a few days to get them all back. (if and when I can be assed playing again that is)
And pointing out that the devs should care because we keep the game alive by paying for it is not nonsense. You can disagree, but seeing the lead developer saying he doesn't care makes me not care. Which in turn makes me not want to pay for a game the lead developer doesn't care about.

I understood Inc's response to be directed at my desire for purity of design for less work later. I wanted a surgery, he wanted a bandaid, because some guild wants a leg amputation for a perfectly good leg.
I'm actually in favor of a guild maintenance that can be performed entirely in a web interface, as that web interface can be leveraged in-game as well.

There are better things to talk about than this.
Not really Greenwall.
Guilds are the reason that MOST people stick around VO. They provide the grouping and community opportunities that are missing from the built gaming mechanics.
And yoda...Inc was saying that he didn't care about Savet's suggestion to overhaul guild maintenance. And if you gave the slightest bit of fucks, you may have realized that he was over exaggerating his views on it.
Obviously he cares about the game, ya ninny. And we all know that you do not.
Bravo.
You don't care or pay for a video game that you don't like, but you feel it necessary to come troll the devs on the forums.
Bravo.
No hard feelings, but obviously you care about this game, so start trying to sound like the tough guy while also sucking the teet...
