Buff the turrets back to their original armor. Its simply too easy to take a station.
Something I'd love to see would be that the number of turrets doesn't immediately pop up to 8, but requires a manufacturing mission to build them. The upper limit would be 32, 64 or something. (however many turrets is the max for a station) Then allow players to man those manufactured turrets. I (and others) have asked for it before.
That being said, I would agree with the OP here. C'mon - make a challenge at least, will ya?

-1 to OP
Old value discouraged assault.
New value encourages repeated assault until one side gets bored.
happy place = middle ground.

-1 to the OP.
-1 Not until I've built my dent!
+1 but, maybe not up to the original armor... split the difference and see how it goes. As it is now, if you are a number of sectors away, a group can take a station before the defenders get there.
Don't do this until the stations are more often contested.
The missile turrets do need to be randomized though.
-1 the point of these is to fight over them not to deterr anyone from attacking them because it takes a bloody hour
If you don't have anyone on to defend you lose them, it's the way it should be and even if you lose the turrets you still have the King of the hill fight (the best part) to save it
It's good the way it is
Leave it alone

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
+1 to OP. Challenges are needed.
LOL!!!! So many -1s. Such a strong presence of laziness.
I didn't realize VO is full of slothful couch potatoes who like having everything handed to them on a silver platter in an instant manner. I wouldn't be surprised if obesity rate among VO players is considerably higher than Americans in general.

and on that note the thread is safely derailed and can be ignored, thanks for that Mr Joker
I think that some armor back but not as much as before is ideal. Somewhere in between, a happy medium like Savet and biretak are suggesting.
I have reversed my position. As joylessjoker say, challenges are needed. The OP doesn't go far enough:
Each turret needs shields and 4x higher armor. They should also seek their targets with the speed and agility of aerna seekers. Their respawn rate should be reduced to 5 minutes. Once they are all destroyed, 18 unaligned tridents must spawn to defend the station by firing avalons (unlimited ammo) directly at the station to prevent docking.
Once the 18 tridents have been destroyed in under 3 minutes 30 seconds (to allow the 1 minute countdown and 30 second docking timer), then the player can capture the station.
Key assignments should then be only be allowed to be entered manually and without any visual or lua assistance within VO.
Then, upon exiting the station, players will be instantly teleported and re-homed to one of their home-nation capitol stations, and then have 5 million credits deducted from their account and their TPG standing reduced to -1000.
Every step of station capture must be incredibly challenging, otherwise what's the point? We might as well just call it "Carebear Space Game for Obese Losers" if conquering stations is anything short of the difficulty I've laid out.
This way all the lazy asses in VO will be sure to have a TRUE challenge. Get off the fucking couch you fatass losers!

The best and easiest solution to making station conquest more difficult that I think everyone can agree on would be to make it case sensitive.
Remove all conq stations from the game and make Tridents unobtainable!
bbbzzzrrrt TGFT now must pay 10 million key management fee for bad suggestions bzzzzrrrt

Says the guy who's always whining about how it's too hard for him to make a trident.
