Trident under attack message to all user key holders

Currently, we get messaged that a conq station is under attack if we have a user key. I suggest extending this to tridents that we have a user key. This would give players notice when a guild members or friends trident is under attack and a quick opportunity to head that way while coordinating with the owner...

But wouldn't that generate soOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo much spam if we start having those trident wars?

You could just easily make a bind for quickly messaging all of your friends and guild members your current location... something like this: "HELP I am being attacked! I am here: %location%"

Let's just make a channel for it. If only there was a channel where traders could discuss tridents and trade and reach out to others across nations. We should make it 3 consecutive numbers to be easy to remember.

But I think kbireta's concern is if he steps away while logged in, he has no way to defend his ship...but neither does anyone else. Play, log off, or start drifting in an empty sector while afk.

Ok as an interim solution, but the the actual problem is that there is only one station to dock tridents at. From an RP prospective logging any ship off in space makes no sense, let alone a trident. Really it is akin to leaving your car parked in the middle of a motorway or the whole crew just abandoning a ship in the middle of the sea.

I'd be tempted to suggest making all ships constantly persist in space once sufficient trident docks were available.

"I'd be tempted to suggest making all ships constantly persist in space once sufficient trident docks were available."

I agree with this completely. And I say this as someone who consistently logs out while in space and will continue to do so. Depending on the number of people that do this though....this may require some sort of time constraint. Even a day or week is reasonable compared to the disappearing ship behavior we have today.

lol! Can you imagine how many EC-89s would appear in capitol stations and training sectors if they made this happen? It would break the game. It's essentially logging on every person in game who has ever played all at once.

Greenwall, if logging out in a station removed them from the sector, this wouldn't overload the sector. If someone logged out in space, even in the capital sector, they would eventually get killed which would bring balance to the sector.

Um, I don't think anybody is asking for it to be applied retroactively; only people who logged out in space after the change was implemented would need to persist. And there would definitely have to be an exception for training sectors, since newbs in training cannot die.

And that would cause more unneeded complexity. I think the way it is now works just fine. Besides imagine if this game becomes big, you'd have hundreds of empty ships floating around. I scincerely hope this game does become big, but I don't want to wade through a bunch of empty ships every time I go to Itan or Sol II.

I don't want half the world knowing whenever my ship is under attack. Group/guild retransmitted notifications can be done pretty easily.

I might just add that to CaptainsKit.

-1 An alert for stations under attack makes sense. If my trident is under attack, that is my problem and my responsibility to call for help. I think the warnings could be more progressive and frequent.

I don't need everyone I've keyed gettting spammed with alerts each time I go hive farming- and I'm pretty sure they'd rather be seeing them either. I think abortretryfail's solution throu a plugin might make more sense.

I agree with Fluffy, -1. It would be a huge unnecessary chat spam.

However one thing is a bit overlooked with the current warning system - you get a message your station/ship is under attack just once. This is easy to overlook and could mean that someone just bumped a station guard or a turret or your ship.

Ideally, attack notification should be repeated in 1-2 min intervals. That way you will know if station/ship is actually under attack and if attack is still going on or not.

Edit: within the current game mechanics, your message could also contain the name of the attacker.

to clarify --- I was thinking of player attacks, not hive attacks and I doubt there would be much spam. the message should be only once per half hour in a particular system. But, I also see the points everyone makes in their -1s

Ship clutter will not be a problem at all -- we will kill them. Why did you put "Viking" in your name, anyway? You clearly lack the mindset.

So your saying you will make trips to Itan and Sol II just to kill ec-89s?

As far as my name, I don't lack the mindset, I simply temper it with intelligence.

Didn't read the thread: just want to input, if this suggestion goes through, this must be optional so I (and presumably others) can turn it off when it gets annoying (or in my case immediately).

Honestly viking you need to play more of the game and get to know it from various perspectives before coming here to spew more of your noob nonsense.

Take it to the rp forum joker. This is the suggestion forum.

Precisely, that was a real suggestion for you viking.
Feb 04, 2015 Pizzasgood link
Of course I'd go to Sol II or Itan if they were packed with ships that needed killing. The real question is, why wouldn't you? Probably because your lips are too firmly clamped around the Man's moobs, sucking down his mind control milk, to ever think about risking your meaningless faction standing. Some viking you are. (Now that was an RP comment. Unlike joylessjoker's, which had nothing at all to do with RP. Hopefully this post has been educational for you.)
