What Exiled. Are you going to stack jacks and sunflares on a moving target. Not to mention not getting yourself killed in the process or badly damaged because you are going to need to live long enough to finish faceof off. Besides The weapon suggested would probably ruin that stack even more than a guided missle one.

I'm against the idea of omni-directional weapons/defenses that don't have some large drawback built in. Yes, turret positions could probably use a tweak, but it's still possible to strike around turrets. Weapons that can automatically hit just because you're in range, without having to aim, are a bad idea. Large ships aren't supposed to be unassailable by smaller ships.

It would only disrupt stacking if it was a persistent effect, not a pulse as described in the OP. Swarms don't cost energy to fire, and if you're using a ship with 50 or less turbo drain, you can resume turbo immediately after the pulse fires. You'd only experience a momentary stutter, and player trident shields are weak enough that it would not make a difference.

Really any energy drain weapon is about as useful as a rolled up newspaper against a small ship with a fast charge power cell. At the very worst, you cost your enemy 5 seconds of charge time while you try to escape in the slowest ship in the game.

They work on Tridents and heavy moths because losing a few seconds of turbo is a big deal. Fighters can just accelerate back up to top speed.

Mines are purpose built for such behavior and also don't stay centered on your ship. The add on proposed here is constantly centered on your ship and has a larger blast radius than most mines. Also, just because energy drain may not be that effective against small ships with FC power cells doesn't mean the proposed method of delivery is a good design.

This should probably be posted in a separate thread, but at the moment it really only makes sense in the context of this thread. I could get behind this if there were a counter to it available. Specifically, an add on that protects against energy-drain/EMP.

Further, this weapon, if accepted more-or-less as is, should probably be a charge-type weapon. The longer the charge the larger the blast radius. The charging animation could be some sort of electrical arcing over the ship's surface. Or at a minimum some basic pulsing of the shield.

hehe, a faraday cage addon...... with a little wire that grounds you to the nearest asteroid.

Or, the counter could be that it disables a tridents shields.

I've killed a player tridents shields while moving, all the Serco did was call it hacks. Jax/Suns have the damage/time capacity to bring down a player shield if all of the missiles hit. You don't need to be turboing or travelling in the opposite direction.

I've downed a Type M's shield while moving w/jacks and sunflares, it's easier than trying to hit one with avalons.

VO hardly needs new weapons /addons....and also more Capital weapons for Tridents ...so many owners and nothing, not any good weapon to use for anything , to defend or attack ...

VO have close a cycle and now pass to next lvl of huge space and capital ships and massive battles....now the devs need to understand this and not only send us a newsletter but to create a new weapons/addons for this new era of VO...

NNEMP is a harmless weapon but is very useful for all Tridents pilots.....but is only 1 from all new weapons/addons we can have in VO....
