After yerstadays battle with Boda ...Tridents needs more weapons and protection against guys who knows and use any bug in game....and this addon can help when u have lose the shields and need to get enough time to escape before stuck behind ur dent (20m and less...) and any of weapon or missile on ship is useless...

So, this would, when activated, kill the powercell of any ships within 500m of yours?

Neat idea I guess, but I still think the problem of capship defense would be better solved by improving turret placement and new turret weapons.

Yes but this is only to give time to dent pilots to escape or to defend (20meters near /stuck to ur dent with not any existed weapon can stop him from to kills u....)....also agreed with improving turret placement and also for new weapons/missiles ...Firecrackers is only for celebrations and Geminis only to shoot roids....

WTH we don't have auto-turrets?!! We are frikkin 2500 years in the future, developed massive technologies, but somehow forgot technologies people used in 2014?
A friggin capship should be able to defend itself against a single attacker homed nearby, who flies a tiny ship compared to a dent.

The only reason Tridents exist is to provide a repair / reload platform as well as a reason to deduct 20 points off someone's score. These ships should be uesed exclusively for transport or background support like in the Small Skirmish rather than the suicidal and absolutely rediculous way they are used in the larger skirmishes. Imagine your Trident wearing a rubber suit head to toe with a ball gag in it's mouth. It's just begging to get spanked.

Seriously, just go to a Levi sector and watch fleet after fleet of Tridents get raped by the queens while posing absolutely no threat except to the occasional small npc craft that got stuck with fail for AI.

Everyone else in tridents seems to get away from me pretty easily. Maybe you should just rethink your tactcis.

+1 to OP. I like that idea, it's sorta a fair comeback a Trident Captain can react to a PCB attack with.

Carry a fighter ship along in your trident. But anyway this weapon would be cool, but not if it were to be Trident specific. 500m is pretty far though.

Its not only for Trident....is turret weapon and can works for all ships with turrets...

Even if the turrets were automated, their locations on the ship make the weapons we have available largely useless.

+1 mostly. I do think this SHOULD be a capital class weapon. We really need this class of weapons, and this would be a perfect fit. If you want to drain energy with non capital ships you can use the drain mine or PCB.

Whether or not it should be a turret is debatable. Since it's not a targeted weapon I see no reason to put it on a turret aside from freeing up the large port for something else.

And yes, if one guy/tranny is able to kill your trident you are doing something wrong (or, at the very least, you shouldn't be complaining about it).

I have no issue with the proposed weapon, but don't really understand why you want it. It only takes a few seconds for a powercell to recharge, and using the NNEMP costs 9/11 of your own cell as well.

How is it more helpful to you than, say, a TU? The only reason I can think of why I'd want something other than a TU is the limited ammo, and draining an attacker's cell once every two minutes doesn't seem worth two shots at simply nuking him into oblivion.

I think if it's drain was lasting instead of momentary/one-time drain it would make it more useful, say like 4 seconds would be good. The 500m range is very attractive. Not to get too real world, but this is an EMP we are talking about. Real EMPs totally destroy electical equipment, not temporarily stun it. I think for gameplay purposes a happy medium between total eletrical destruction and ineffective stunning could be reached.

You clearly haven't been ingame to see new methods of stacking that don't require tracking weapons.
