Forums » Suggestions
We all know the devs' time is limited, valuable, and in high demand. Part of that time ends up being spent moderating the forums and putting up with whiners and trolls.
Why not make sure that they're at least getting paid for their efforts?
Suggestion: Require an active lite or premium subscription for users to post on the forums. Especially ones like Bugs and Suggestions which are oriented towards the game and aspects of it rather than just community chitchat.

Very much a +1000000. The devs have enough to dealt with from subscribed players postings. I agree. If someone wishes to have a voice in the forums, then at the very least they should have an active lite sub.

Um, no RABII, let's not have a lite/premium divide. That would be retarded.
As for the OP, I think it should only kick in after they've gone a month without subbing. Sometimes people have to let it lapse for a little while and come back later, and having a grace period on the forums would be handy. Alternately, Off Topic should remain unlocked.
I'd rather just leave it how it is now.

Sure, why not. $6.66/mo to use the forums? Cheap entertainment, I say.
Is it broke? Wanna fix it till it is?
Edit: Also, I wonder how observers of this would think of a game that requires a subscription to use its forum of all things.

"That was helpful, Pizzasgood. Tactful."
Note that I called your idea retarded, not you. Everybody has dumb ideas at times, myself included. It's not a big deal.

> 1 month not subbed, you get Read Only for Suggestions, Bugs and General. This includes Trial accounts that have not subscribed, or played more than 3 hours (of their trial time) in the last month.

However, I know of at least one player who used his real name as his primary login, and does not want it displayed. As for myself, I often use the same login name on many accounts, and also do not want that information displayed to the public. There are other things that need to be considered, and many legit reasons to maintain a 'forum alt'.
Should this change take place, perhaps it should only effect accounts new accounts made afterwards.

Hell no.
The entire reason for a forum is the community it serves. Locking someone out of a community simply because they don't have access to a game is, always has been, and always will be a [REDACTED] retarded idea.

He could just submit a support ticket to have it changed to something more benign.

Yeah lets attract even less players by charging for forum access.
Oh wait, let us restrict anyone from see the forums unless they are a subscriber. That way people might subscribe just to see the forums LOL, yeah that's the ticket.
Come on seriously ?
Your concerned about the whole 5 people that might post on the forums that are not subscribers ? WOW LOL
Lets just send them to the electric chair so we don't have to hear from them again.
Pesky non-customers how dare they read or post in VO forums without subscribing.
hahaha good one.

I think restricting some forums makes sense... like suggestions and RP. But the rest we could keep open.

Uhhhhhh... as if people join and stay in this game because there are forums? Wtf are you smoking? 80% of people in game haven't the slightest clue and/or interest in reading or participating in forums.

You should have to be a premium member to talk in 100.
Instead, maybe a subscriber-only forum? Perhaps restrict the bug forum and suggestions as well.
The bugs forum absolutely should not be locked to trial accounts. People who are checking out the game for the first time need to be able to post about any obstacles and/or technical difficulties they may be facing and to receive support to resolve their issues running the game.

WHAT ? LOL
wtf are you smoking ? back at ya.
No one suggested people join and stay in the game because there are forums.
Not sure what your reading.
I'm just saying the already limited alure certainly would not be more attractive by limiting forum access.
This is like saying you can try the game but if it doesn't work buzz off.
Don't bother us unless you pay us to chat about something that you may not have even purchased yet.
I mean if your really really wanting to make it worth their while charge current subscribers an extra $10 per month for forum access too. I mean the devs still have to answer questions for subscribers right. They were already paid for you playing the game, so seems like a second job for them to answer subscribers questions too right ?
Yeah lets charge $10 just for forums even to subscribers.
Rhetorically of course, it is lame to limit access to forums.
