The smaller stuff isn't that important.

The extreme amount of time sucked away figuring out the "smaller stuff"--i.e., making the concept of homing mines actually work in the context of VO--is one of the many reasons this will never see the light of day. Thinking it through and doing the Devs' work for them would make it marginally more likely to happen.
