Actually I have chased a queen in a trident with a megaposi. It's utterly ridiculous.
I am pretty sure a rag could get within 500m of a trident...
By cappie weapon I mean it is intended for use against tridents and other large slow targets
Thats why it is a large port weapon and not a turret

Nearly three years ago for the light rep gun. <.<
PaK... stop stealing other peoples ideas.
ryan take yer lithium....
I realize we've all been hashing this out in the capship weps thread, but capital beam weapons need to be much longer ranged than weapons available for smaller ships. So if most of our beam weapons are 500m, perhaps it would be appropriate for cap weps to start at somewhere around 1500m or so. Recall that if all cap weps required charging in some manner (which would justify the range and damage benefit), the range is likely to be longer too, but would obviously be slower firing.
There's an extra 0 on the end of the damages for those weapons. [EDIT] Those would all be instakill for fighters. If they're large port, cappie-exclusive, that'd be a definite idea.
In my opinion, anti-capship weapons for capships should be on large ports or "capital ports," forward firing, while turrets deal with fighters and bombers. A few large ports on the trident or a single capital port with unique weaponry balanced for destroying capital ships. These unique weapons should be able to destroy fighters without any problem, if the fighter is stupid enough to get in front of a capital port.

Anti-capship weapons need to deal as much damage as possible as fast as possible. As of right now, the best gun for the job is the Mega Positron Blaster. So far there's not been any better suggestions because ultimately the power cell is the limiting factor. Unless it's more efficient than the MP, it's not going to be -effective-.
I was in fact toying with a large port storage battery idea which would not generate power but would allow a bunch of extra power to be stored at the cost of a weapon slot
