Impavid: I feel like there would be issues with "sell all". not to mention there are no current mechanics for group ownership.
Alright my two cents... as a station owner.. to Impavid: if you leave shit at the station.. the conquerers should be able to take it/use it/ sell it/ piss on it if they want I 100% agree. I leave shit there.. its insane that i can park 30 proms with no fear of them being lost, the problem does become the ninja bullshit As I think we can all agree the current system of just waiting till the other guys go to sleep is stupid, boring, asinine, and utterly pointless. At the same time.. you own you should have to guard the goddamn worthless piece of crap. So all in all i agree wholeheartedly with this suggestion.
to Atice: Group Ownership.. There should be a way to share equipment among keyholders (perhaps assigning a level of access to each user key holder... IE: Atice can access the store of rep guns at M14, but cant Access the prom's held there for ONE members . This would require a couple of changes to the UI a station stores tab, the ability for owners to assign access levels to items and players.
With this it would be nice if the owners could assign prices and actually buy and sell shit....thus making the stations USEFUL as opposed to what they are now.
Free reps are great and all... the lack of lics. requirements for equipping anything at a station is also nice... but not THAT nice not enough to make them worth the millions it can take to conquer it. For gods sakes just make all the damn stations in deneb conquerable, so i dont have to spend all my time in the assend of nowhere for dubious rewards.
EDIT: As to the other suggestions of limited number of turrets... turrets should have to be bought.. you get 8 free when you conquer.. you can buy up to 12--22 more if you cant be bothered to show up and buy more, you dont deserve to have the station to begin with.

man you guys are such little school girls if you lose the station all your cargo and ships should be transfered to the new owners to do as they please with and to make it worth while cut regular station storage to like 500cu and make the conquerable station storage 10,000cu so there is a bennefit to owning it and capturing it.
It would be nice if group/guild storage was implemented anyway.
eh peytros i was saying i support the idea that if you store shit at a conquerable station... its up for grabs when someone conquers it.. re-read!
I agree with the concept, as well as for all material goods inside the station at the time of conquest to turn over to the new owners.
Of course, that will lead to me not storing goods there intentionally unless a significant advantage could be gained by it. I guess it will auto-balance.

And since there is no gain to storing goods in any particular station (except a few vessels to help you defend the thing, and even then you can store in nearby stations), no one will store anything of value there and the dev time will be pretty much wasted.
let's get the economy first.

thanks for completely ignoring the suggestion to make conquerable stations have huge storage and regular stations to have minimal, couple that with the ability to craft at the conquerable station and you will have stock piles ready for the taking and defending.
Ya pey that would make conq stations somewhat useful. And atice you have no right to harp on something that needs to be implemented first, when you continually post bullshit threads in the suggestions forum.
Their needs to be a /votemute option on here but I guess that's another story..

The advantage is with the missions already available only at conquerable stations. You need to store items to build ulan mines and whatever else you can construct at those stations. Adding a couple of higher material requirement missions would increase your need to store items and risk losing them.
It really feels like you don't want to have to fight for anything, or work for anything, or have any conflict at all. Maybe you should quit the Vipers and join the carebears?

There's zero advantage there. If I want to manufacture something, I bring a taur with the materials, then leave with the finished product. Moreover, only one station has manufacturables.

So now there's a 10 minute window while I bring a moth and store stuff before I make what I need and then leave with it? Hardly much risk there. Stations take about 20 minutes to take... so even if the station were under attack I could still probably bring in manufacturing goods in a couple runs of a taur, then run the stuff out of there before the other side took the station. Not to mention making manufacturing even more of a pain in the ass is the worst idea ever.

yah... still a huge problem with "sell all". Someone comes in and ninja's the station at 5am EST, sells everyone's stuff, then leaves the station to be retaken. That seems pretty retarded to me. Not to mention if such a scenario were a possibility no one would store anything there anyways. The "incentives" or "advantages" being cited here would just cause people annoyance. Especially as there is only a select (30% max?) portion of the population which actually cares about conquerable stations, you'd be screwing the fuck out of those people.
favrewebelieve, your posts (like most of your others) are substance-free and hyperbole-heavy.

That must be it! lol. Seriously though, these changes would probably take some heavy modification of code, and since people would just work around these proposed disincentives to store goods in conquerable stations (the only reason I would EVER store something in a place where those goods could be taken while I slept is if I were earning some kind of interest on those goods), there would end up being very little awesome factor for the work required.
Think about these things in terms of cost/benefit. Lots of cost. Not too much benefit at all. In principal, the idea is interesting. In a game where dev-time is a very limited resource... I'd much rather see us have the ability to blockade a station, limiting the station's ability to defend itself, so it can be sacked quickly later on so I can come in and manufacture a whole bunch of the precious/rare things which the stations will give access to. THAT kind of gameplay is pure awesome, has high incentives all around, and promotes a shitton of intense player interaction. Moreover, similar gameplay mechanics are in the works.
Currently, if you don't own a station, too bad. No bragging rights for you. Sorry. The stations are currently pretty beta, and the full versions are being worked on. Let's get that shit first. That's all I'm trying to say.

Yeah, VO is doomed... But Black Matter is in closed beta right now, and it looks AWESOME.
i see this idea and the limited supplies as good moves towards making to own a station to be a collective and long term effort. And not only when its owner is online.
If you are sleeping at any given time, make sure your guild is big enough to cover many time zones, or associate with another guild on another timezone, or 'hire' someone else in japan, so you'll have active coverage 24x7.
So for soloing a station it would require some 4 hours of continuous effort, destroying defenses that are not replenished by its owner. But once done, I want to OWN the station and do whatever I want to it, either respect its storage as a swiss bank, or take it for me.
To complete the scenario, the stations should warn its owners when attacker - already asked - and be possible to be owned by a long lasting group: the Guilds!
Main concepts:
-Manufacturing economy should start with conquerable stations
-Station has limited defenses that must be replenished
-Station defenses send alerts when attacked
-Conqueror has option to honour storage or pillage it!

Fuck where?
Fuck where?
is that really the arguement now? "hurr ill just fly a moth full of stuphz to teh station instead of stock piling"
that's fine with me at least it would get some moths in grey aside from ryan regin
also if you ninnies are so worried about people ninjaing it either up the defenses or make a longer lock out period (a few hours or even 24 like in eve)
seriously all this negativity about ideas that are going to bring more player interaction via fighting for stuff is really annoying if you don't want people taking your stuff go play a PvE game I hear WoW is pretty good in that department.

Typical logic disconnect.
Wiping out a players inventory while they are offline will not even be considered.
Destroying the usefullness of the station before it is even remotely done is patently stupid as well.
Rats outnumber traders in grey almost constantly. The fact that they are unwilling to cooperate for more then a few minutes does not justify screwing over the traders.
Lecter I expect a lawyer to be able to use a minimal amount of logic. This is something I would expect from someone still living in thier mommas basement.
Im just gonna file this thread under Comedy.

Wiping out a players inventory while they're sleeping?! You mean stealing something they left lying around in a place where they shouldn't have. Conquerable stations should be volatile. If I steal your car and dump it later, I can still leave with your CD collection...
Typical logical disconnect indeed.

Right. Then no one will store things there. Then the dev work that would be put into the feature is useless by your own admission.
Someone remind me what the point is? Player interaction? How does people not storing shit at a particular station increase player interaction? If not player interaction... then what the hell is the point?
