I finally got to see a Serco war convoy blockade, and well, it kind of failed. The Serco voy reached Edras I-2, only firing upon me if I strayed too close to the Capship. Once it reached Edras I-2 it just sat there at the warp in point. The Connie only fired upon me if I flew too close to it, the rest of the bots just seem to sit there, like they have no objective set.
Suggestions for improvement. I don't know how easy this would be to do, but is it possible to make the Connie maybe fly to the worm hole and back to the jump point? Having it moving in the sector rather than just sat still would look way cooler, but if thats not an option, can you make it sit closer to the worm hole? Maybe not right on top of it, but it currently sits 9000m away from the worm hole.
Again, I don't know enough to say if this would be easy to do or not, but it seems the *escort* bots are set to idle once they reach the final sector, they should engage and chase any enemy. Even if you attack the Connie, they still don't budge. Either set the bots to attack anything they don't like, or get them to protect the capship.
I've not yet witnessed what happens if an Itani convoy shows up, but right now I'm guessing they will pass the Serco fleet without any contact due to the distance from the worm holes (this goes vice versa too, but I'm not Itani KOS), no doubt more issues will crop up, but my initial reaction is well, fail.

Heh yoda, it's the first time implement. You didn't expect bugs? Perhaps we should reference them all here and link them to bugs.
But a step in the right direction. As far as I'm concerned as a "first thought implementation", this is anything but a fail. Sure some technicalities need to be addressed, but this is good :)

Nono, I expected bugs, just thought with it being a war convoy, there would be some kind of well, war :P
I didn't really test the final sector stuff, because I was so busy Friday just getting them to pass through grey instead of UIT space, and other basic things. Anyway, yea; they should definitely get closer to the wormhole and be more aggressive. Do you guys think they should attack all of the enemy-nation's ships, or just be aggressive/defensive based on standing and whether the player attacks?
It should fire at all enemies of the war convoy however to remove the ability of friendly people of the opposite nation hopping in and killing the nation members of that war convoy with their own ships only allow nation players to dock
Good call on the docking. I assume by "all enemies" you mean based on standing.
He means me boarding the Itani cappy and splatting smurfs. So yeah, Itani only should be able to dock with the Itani Cappy, and only Serco with the Serco one.
Itani convoys should attack all Serco and UIT unless they are admired or above with Itani while being Hated or below with Serco. They should shoot Itani only if said pilot has more Serco standing than Itani standing.

^^^ Those should be the rules for target picking, IMO. I said to include UIT in the same way as Itani or Serco because this is an economic blockade and any UIT seen up there is obviously patronizing the other side with their trade... unless they were the war convoy's nation's mercenaries infiltrating that space (In which case, admired with one nation and hated with the other).
Oh yeah, and I don't know whether this is already there or not, but I'm assuming the way in which they get to the enemy's WH is the same as the convoys, in which case the fighters should be set to just defend themselves if they are shot at (normal convoys' fighters tend to just let people pop them as long as they don't shoot the cargo ships). They should also run to the next sector if the cappie jumps, so that all the fighters don't get stuck behind shooting some guy while the cappie is already 4 jumps away.
And, of course, yeah, they should sit on the wh :D

This is a great step in the right direction. Once things are more tuned, I'd suggest having a mission or two pop up in the blockaded area of space for "blockade running" or even "blockade breaking". The latter could spawn a group of friendly ships that engage the blockading force in an attempt to regain control.

I like the first bit of this idea, however, I would personally change the last sentence to that a Serco blockade shoot any Serco with Itani respect or better and the same for the Itani blockades against any Itani with good Serco standing. At least until the faction system is fixed.

It would be great for immersion if, when you entered whichever wh sector was currently being blockaded, you were messaged by the cap ship. This message would be different based on the targeting parameters and faction.
For example:
Serco blockade
UIT (neutral): Greetings (char name). Current entry into this sector is restricted to authorized personel. Please leave immediately. Non-compliance will be met with lethal force.
Serco (admired): Welcome citizen. Please be advised that although this sector is currently under Serco control, we cannot guarantee your safe passage. Please be extra vigilant for Itani agression.
Itani (hated): DIIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't the blockade just shoot at EVERYONE trying to enter itani space? I mean... if you have a hated enemy, and you're trying to blockade them, why let your people through to give them money and goods?
They are not blockade voys, they are war voys, so yah, sometimes you have to give a little.
alright, I can cede that. Maybe only +800 can get let through? I'd like there to be a high bar for entry.

Atice, I don't think the Blockade / war voy whatever you want to call it should shoot all players of its nation as nationalists might want to participate in the action. In fact, I'd love to see some missions written to tie into this new aspect of the game. By the same token, I don't want Itani loved Serco's slipping past the voy and entering freely into Itani space either. The should be considered traitors and shot on sight.

Ah, I hadn't considered nationalists helping out, but rather only thinking of people traveling through the WH. Maybe if you travel through the WH, you are shot on site? Of course, people who approach 1000m of the WH would need to be warned not to enter it.
I think the Serco convoy should just shoot anything that isn't Itani POS, and vice versa. That's simpler than any of the other acceptable solutions that have been proposed, and accomplishes the "blockade" goal quite nicely.

Aye, much simpler solution, just have them shoot everyone who is disliked or above with the opposing nation.
Too many players have 13 faction POS right now.
I say the Serco convoy should only allow 800+ Serco standing AND Serco nationality through. Everyone else gets shot.
"I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit --- it's the only way to be sure."
