Precisely, this is the kind of situation this could help to avoid.

Break it down real simple...
In station...

Ryan Reign> /give MiexionBionic 2000 Axia Accelerated Positron blasters
MiexionBionic> /give money "Ryan Reign" 20000000

or...

MiexionBionic> /give money "Ryan Reign" 20000000
Ryan Reign> /give MiexionBionic 2000 Axia Accelerated Positron blasters
(if you don't trust the person you're selling to.

or a drop drag feature where each party drags in what they want to transfer (credits or items) and then both parties must select accept, this way both parties no what they are getting so the lack of trust does not matter

oh my fucking god only on the suggestions forums can people take something so easy and makes a mess of it. if you are so worried that someone wont pay you or rip you off maybe you shouldn't be trading with them. In anycase the easiest way to do this that a lot of other games have had is

2 players dock in station you say hey wanna trade type /tradeitem a window pops up with your inventory like the load/unload screen with a section for credits both players can see this IN REAL TIME and then once both players click accept trade is complete

OMFG ABUSE WHAT IF ONE PLAYER CLICKS OK AND THE OTHER PLAYER TAKES THEIR ITEM OUT - once one player has click ok taking an item out will result in a cancled trade, the other player can only add items with out it canceling.

oh after raging on this i see breazle posted it in a simpler form but he didn't add the "abuse prevention feature"
Dec 17, 2009 ryan reign link
To hell with the "abuse prevention features"! You're trading and something goes wrong...

A. never deal with that person again.
B. Put the word out.
C. You or some one you hire blasts the hell out of them every time you see them.

Not getting paid is a problem for anyone involved in trade with players. We all still do it. We all chose to accept the risk, we all go on with our lives. If a few people feel its to risky to do it this way, by all means grab a moth, and kill 20 minutes to a few hours outside a station making trips.

So, how it works now ;)

I agree with Ryan completely. If you don't want to be abused - don't start deal at all. Like in real life.

command should be available only undocked:

/give "n00bie" 44 "Neutron blaster of the death"
/givemoney "Da plant" 2000000

"Da Plant" destroyed "n00bie"

"n00bie" has left the sector

100<n00bie> blah blah blah "da Plant" @*µ*%$!!! :"(

more fun this way : ]

PS o.O shit! ye can do that already with the J key : )

pirren, if all people thought like you, we'd not even be using sharpened rocks.

If all people thought like you, there won't be any people at all, only flowers and vegetarians.
And by the way, we use nukes, instead of sharpened rocks.

Yeah! Why only screw your enemy if you can also fsck whole planet?

Back to topic, in the future, when you'll have capships and a station, you will wish to trade with guests. You prefer to every time enter a moth, load it, undock, drop good while hope to receive money as planned and not be attacked by someone else ???

Wouldn't be easier to have a (offer/confirmation) command to do business ONLY while docked, including involving more that 200 itens at once?

/trade sell "noobie793" 10000 300:"aquean ore" < quant:item
/trade buy "badminer1" 10000

And later someone does a plugin that makes that into a fancy GUI.

And that does not replace anyway the "space trade" and all its risks.

n: I wanna buy 10 super-gun
p: I have, sell for 5Mc, meet me at X1
n: Can't you deliver here at S2?
p: No, can't dock there. Don't like its smell...

in two words:

feck this!

ye want to do business ye take risk to get blow : )

ye want to do more business ask for a bigger capacity ship : p
Dec 18, 2009 ryan reign link
What risk? two XCs 5 to 15 meters from a station, wheres the risk?

"ye want to do business ye take risk to get blow"

Even if the risk was real, why? In the long list of glaringly unrealistic aspects of VO, having to load your ship, launch pick up cargo that has been jettisoned, dock, repeat... is the most ridiculous.

[EDIT] This wouldn't replace trading in space, it would simply add a more realistic way to sell. We sell to NPCs in station, we can sell thousands of cu's in station. If you're concern is the risk... there is still the long multiple journeys from station A to station B in big slow cargo ships.

[EDIT 2] If its so hard for you to catch a loaded cargo ship, that you need to boom them as they trading outside a station, then you might want to consider a career other than piracy. ORE TGFT and PA are pretty big on the more peaceful activities, if you like... I could put in a good word for you ;-)

Have you any idea how many moths I've popped that were conducting either a proc goods or bulk items swap outside a station?

Who talked about XC's?...
scroll up and read Ryan n00b : )

And about XC's: what Lecter said!

Why do ya want to hide and do yer lil business without associating the whole vo community?
3some is awesome!!!
... dont ye think or are ye another naughty shameful puritan hypocrit?

PS do not worry i'll still boom* ye for free : )

bleed well : ]

(*or at least try)
Dec 18, 2009 ryan reign link
BT, I fully expect you to boom me, thats all part of your charm! The Doc too, and all other pirates. I don't hold it against any pirate for booming me or any one else, it is what it is.

I should clarify about the XCs, there will always be a risk... (hell even I have boomed ships in the NFZ.)... the NFZ/SF are a joke, if they can't catch me then they certainly can not catch veteran pirates/homicidal maniacs like you guys.

[EDIT] Also when all else fails, and Im trading outside a station... I have the person drop the item in the docking port after I am behind them. They drop, dock, I move a little, pick up and dock. Actually, I do that even with the escort and scoped out station. The whole thing takes less than 3 to 5 seconds if I am going slow.

In the situations I speak of, the stations are checked out and guards are posted, is there still a risk? Absolutely, is the risk lessened? Yes.

At any rate, yes this makes it easier for traders, at least in the end. However, as mentioned previously, there is still the long journey from point A to point B where in pirates can still have a fair chance at them. Lets face it, no one is going to use this feature to obtain items available in nation space.
The most likely use is items offered in an enemy nations space or weapons in Gray space. That means there is a lot of space for pirates to catch the traders. Which in turn leads to a situation where traders... (with at least two brain cells) would be more likely to pay pirates, which in turn leads to a win win situation for pirates and traders.

Like the idea, and an additional suggestion:

If you're making a transfer in a station, it should go in the "station records" (perhaps put a notice in the bar saying "Transfer X from A to B completed). This might prompt people who want discretion to go out into empty space and complete some sort of transfer there.

Not really necessary, but would be more realistic RP-wise.
Dec 19, 2009 Impavid link
Yes I want a public record of my cargo transfers for all the pirates to see :/ maybe would could tax it too!

Seriously, all I want for Christmas is this. And a pony.

Hmm, the case for Azumi being a Tumble alt grows stronger.

traders... (with at least two brain cells) would be more likely to pay

So, none of them?
Dec 19, 2009 ryan reign link
Believe it or not Doc, there are a few traders out there with some smarts. Not the "I NEVAH PAY PIERATS!" fuckers, the real traders. The people who take precautions to make sure they get where they are going and pay the occasional toll to get there.

Station should charge you 10% of the monies involved, a service like this should never be free.
