Sending 1 message to 100 per second for 30 seconds should mute you for 1 minute

I'm tired of non-converation related things being pasted endlessly onto 100.

/ignore works... but that behavior should not be encouraged.

It would be nice, yes. But I think that seeing as how /vote mute wasn't used, an argument could be made that people don't mind.

Believe me, I'm not arguing. It got annoying very fast. I'm just saying that the point could be made.

Just can't help yourself with the busybodyness, can you?

Noes! That would stop the Bidi Baba!

I must learn more about this Gravity thing....

Personally it wasn't that annoying. If it really bothers you THAT much Atice, either use /ignore or just /leave 100.

Look Atice, I'm getting tired of you provoking flames by calling out individuals. You could simply have made the suggestion without specifying names or specific behaviors, but you continue to create strife by pointing fingers. Your behavior in this regard is as bad as any other troll. Knock it off.

@Whistler: My apologies. Was not intended as such (examples tend to make arguments clearer...); OP edited.

@vskye and others: the suggestion isn't really for me. I can easily ignore or leave (and I do). It's more for those who don't know these things... as it's hard to get the message out that such things can be ignored or left when the chat keeps cycling.

Atice, we've established this several times now, but you don't seem to get it.

You are not every newb's mommy.

You do not have the right to attempt to enforce their "protection" from things you thing are too obscene or annoying for them to read.

They are just as capable of using /ignore and /leave as you are.

Get off your damn high-horse.

Whistler, perhaps I'm out of line with this post, but I think it's highly disrespectful for you to attack Atice while letting other people who are guilty of far more offensive conduct (including personally attacking you, the mod, which would be instaban material on most forums) behave as they please.

Dear god ladron, I'm aware. I'm not on a goddamned high-horse here. People shouldn't spam 100, as it can limit conversation, and is incredibly annoying to those who don't yet get the mechanics of the game and therefore can't ignore the spamming.

I'm not enforcing (or attempting to enforce) anything. You'll notice I didn't start a vote mute campaign or anything of that sort. I didn't even yell to all newbs to ignore.

What I am saying is that people shouldn't spam (and that spamming should be discouraged). 1 message to 100 per second for 30 seconds is absurd, no matter how you look at it. Furthermore, the "punishment" I'm proposing isn't even that harsh.

Yes, you are slightly out of line. Attacking me is futile, and therefore ignored. This is not most forums. I was not "attacking" Atice but providing feedback (which he took in stride, much to his credit), and other people do not actually get to do as they please. They walk a tightrope and know it. The difference is that I don't believe that Atice desires to be a nuisance - hence the feedback.

I was going to bitchslap Atice for his milquetoast paternalism, but I see ladron beat me to it. Ironically, however, a vote mute "campaign" would have been the appropriate response here.

Carry on.

I have resolved, after reading this thread, to do as much intentional spamming of 100 as possible, but only when Atice is online.

I am by no means targeting atice, rather, I am choosing to govern my conduct by a set of arbitrary and easy to follow rules in the hopes of being able to remember to do it.

Seems no valid or reasonable discussion will ensue on this thread. Let's lock for posterity or delete for sanity.

longcat is not spam! and regardless if people want to mute someone for playing jukebox hero on 100 thats fine but don't make it insta mute just because someone gets your panties in a twist.

just because someone gets your panties in a twist.
the reasoning behind this suggestion is not personal. there just happens to be a particular player who happens to show us the things which could use fixing, like vote mute awhile back.

ok atice ill man up and admit i have been quite liberal in my use of the "spam" plugin but only cause i just got it to work. In my defense I have always stopped it in what i have thought to be a reasonable time usually when people stop finding it funny and start complaining. But I think adding arbitrary mutes like this is just silly there is already a time limit on the amount of messages you can send per second

This idea would cause more problems than its worth for example any time some one "mispeld" a word and "*misspelled" directly after . Or when typing something especially long, and had to continue after running out of room.

You really think you're going to misspell something 30 times in a row, each time correcting yourself within one second.

Or when typing something especially long, and had to continue after running out of room.
People can type that fast for something "especially long"? That's just silly.
