Something low... like 2.5% per month. But there should be incentive to store your money with the collective. Might be too much of an exploit, but I figure it's worth posting for you guys.
No.
No way.
eh. figured. oh well.
How about "You can take out guild loans and get CHARGED interest?"
Atice: how much is TGFT paying you to suggest that?

Now that's more like it.

TGFT... pay me? lol. if only.
I've just seen people interact with guild banks is somewhat odd ways (like, when a guy runs low on money, a guildmate would donate directly to them instead of having them withdraw from the bank), and figured making the guild bank more than just temporary storage would make things more interesting.

Nah, I don't think it would make things any more interesting, and it would definitely discriminate against people who are non-guilded. CHRN supports the rights of non-guilded pilots.
Anyway, we don't need ways of adding more money into circulation. If anything, we need to be thinking of ways to remove money from circulation.

Hrm, Considering the massive ammounts in some guild banks, the members could pretty much live off the interest and never do any moneymaking ingame again..
(but putting interest on withdrawals would be interesting)

Ladron, this isn't a guild-specific thread. Spedy, a good point (I shot from the hip on this one, and it's obvious).
as for money withdrawal interest, it's an intriguing suggestion, but I don't see the point. I'm just looking for something to make the bank more appealing / useful rather than just some "hey, look, we have this exorbitant amount in our bank that no one seems to use".

You're talking about something that explicitly and directly deals with guild mechanics, specifically in a way that discriminates against non-guilded players. That seems pretty guild-specific to me >.>
A loan-system would be nice. I used to lend money in Eve using the (slighly over-complex) contacts system. And sometimes on a trust-basis with people from within my clan. Would like to be able to do the same here...
Lol @ Ladron suggesting guilds shouldn't have any benefits. There's little point in a guild if there are no guild-only activities, systems or benefits.

Ladron, by non-guild-specific I mean not related to any particular guild (especially as mine wouldn't benefit nearly as much as others from this suggestion). Of course it is related to guilds in general... you'd have to be unbelievably retarded not to see that.
And what is wrong with guilds having benefits (not necessarily this one, but just in general)? That's like saying that mining shouldn't have benefits because some people don't like to mine.

Guilds should have benefits, yes, but there is a lot of precedent stating that the devs don't want anything in the game that explicitly discriminates against non-guilded players. The most recent example is the discussion on conquerable stations.
Guilds in VO exist primarily for organization and identification purposes, and these are the main benefits that being in a guild provide.

1. A guild bank isn't a Bank (if I'm not mistaken, I've never been in a guild), but a central place to store guild money.
b. The interest paid by a Bank has to come from somewhere...
iii. I would like the money in my pocket to collect interest.

Bank interest basicly comes from inflation.....
In that case, guild bank interest should be negative, since we have hugely negative inflation in VO (that is, everyone in the universe is constantly making more and more money, most at a super-linear rate, but the prices of goods remain constant)
Sadly all mmo's tend to have a problem keeping money in check.
Which is due to the fact that there is no wear and tear in most MMO's.
VO should offer zero free storage for goods and ships. If you want to stockpile your shit, you buy weekly or monthly rates on storage facilities in station.
Making new goods should require the expenditure of resources. A station can't manufacture basic parts without ore, and other stations can't manufacture ships or weapons or goods without basic parts.
Transportation should physically remove value from the economy. All ships (especially big ones like transports) should consume fuel when flying, which needs to be replenished periodically and must be manufactured from a certain type of ore.
Asteroids should either have a finite store of resources, or cooldown rates should be about 10 orders of magnitude longer than they are now. Yes, you read that right, 10 orders of magnitude.
However, most traders/miners would rather do point-and-click trading with infinite supplies of goods and no costs rather than something that actually requires thought and planning, and so they will cry loudly about these suggestions. I guess anyone smart enough to do well as a real trader would immediately become a pirate anyway, as it's the only challenging thing to do in this game.

ladron your last paragraph shows why the rest of your suggestion won't be an integral part of a sucessfull game. Sometimes good enough is better than best.
