I don't see this as "good enough" vs. "best", though, I see it as "game in which any organism with at least one prehensile appendage can sit in a Centaur Mk III and click on the escort mission icons over and over again, following the route pre-plotted for them by the computer, and end up being the richest character in the game" vs "game in which success requires mental acuity and, well, skill". The latter is a lot more fun than the former, but only non-idiots can play, which is a major turn-off for idiots.
Personally I can tolerate this game because there are enough idiots running around that I can usually blow them up in sufficiently rapid succession to keep myself entertained. I would rather play a game with a good economic model, in which trading was a challenging endeavor. Then non-idiots might play traders, and they would be more fun to chase.
On a slightly related note, it is my understanding that at one point there were non-idiot traders in Vendetta. There may even still be residual numbers of these. What happened to them, though? Why are they no longer around?

Hmm, I know I'm an easy target for criticism, but let me try and shed a little light Ladron.
Timezones.
Look, about 3/4 of the playerbase are in the USA , the other 1/4 worldwide, I log on early evening UK and see a dozen players and 4 bots. So I trade or mine, since nothing much else is happening. I do that with knowledge, I get rich.
By the time that the USA playerbase is coming in it is midnight here , I'm generally heading out . We are there Ladron, but because of timezones the very rich miners and traders tend to be European.
I really look forward to there being hundreds in VO early evening in the UK, I really like PVP. If there is anyone to shoot at I will shoot at them.
Remember, some players have high levels simply because they have played a lot. It is easy to snipe in a forum Ladron, but our levels and bank balances give us no advantage in game, it merely reflects our commitment to VO as a concept, and reflects that we do log in and play.
