Gatling Cannon MKII
Large Port
6/-/6/-/-
Damage: 400 (420?)
Velocity 200m/s
Energy 9/blast (maybe 10?)
Delay 0.075s
Grid Usage 8
Mass 800kg
Multi-barrel cannon on an upgraded mount, BX-90 plasma cartridge.
---------
I just like to see a better gatling like weapon in the game that isn't a freakin turret. More velocity than the turret but it's autoaim isn't the same so i think it balances out.
anyone else have any suggestions, criticisms, improvements that have to directly deal with the gun and not why i am still here?

Hmm...
Sounds fairly reasonable. Although I believe the standard model requires HW 5; your license requirements on the mk2 ought be altered to reflect this.

you'd probably be the only one to use it since most people live and die by their newb cannon
it might bring in others to learn something new. I'd totally use it though as i love "different" weapons.
Sounds like a big fat popcorn cannon.
Will be interesting to see how it'd work in combat if it gets released..

That's some intense damage; it is the highest DPS of any gun in VO, I believe. I would suggest kicking it up even higher to 420 damage, and 14 energy a blast, for a truly unique weapon--cheap, dirty, but damned ferocious if you can bring its power to bear. That's how I'd like really like to see the Flechettes, as opposed to a novelty. (They don't have a single thing better about them when compared to generic blasters!)
given it's low mass that would be a bit much. I'd rather see it more balanced out as an alternative to the stupid autoaim turret craze.
Then the gun's going to need to outshine the current alternatives in something, other than sucking. The Megaposi already outperforms your model in everything.
*sigh* yeah, so does the best of the best outshine the rest. Hardly the point. As I stated in the op, it is a *gatling* alternative. Not OMGOSH THE BESET WEAPON EVAR. Because that is stupid and boring.
[stamp of approval]
I'd like to see more weapons that require more skill than knowing when to hold down the trigger as an opponent approaches.

levels adjusted again after looking at GC and GT levels
/me knows it was mecha in the scp last night now!
Only thing the regular gatling cannon series (including this mockup) has ever been good for is dazzling your opponent with lots of close range shots that have no chance of ever hitting you. Like watching a fireworks show close up.
if there was a really expensive small port item called "cannon stabilizer" or something that removed some of the jitter then the gatling cannon could be a mighty weapon.

I don't fly proms. I was trying out gatling cannons in HS with a mineral maud though.
Hmm...you don't suppose this MK2 variant should have less spread, then? Not no spread; just less.
200m/s velocity is a drastic change in the accuracy of the weapon even if it does spread a little. The bolts are also bigger than that of the flechette MKII, which makes it easier to hit with. Velocity and damage increase will change a lot as it is. And the devs mentioned suggesting weapons (in another thread) that they have to be within the mechanics of the normal weapon. So changing the physical firing aspect of the weapon other than the stats seems unlikely and an entirely different thread unto itself.
Resurrecting: The gun does not lag.
If you can fly through a skirmish of anykind with turrets and swarms and rockets and gatling *turrets* flying around in the sector, then this gun will not lag the sector or anything.
I would like to see this in the game, as the GC has absolutely no use as it is and therefore this could be an improved model with higher level restrictions.

+1 to an upgraded Gatling Cannon. Heck, leave the energy use the same. There's already s-port stuff that does more damage for less.
+1
There aren't enough interesting heavy weapons. Everybody pretty much uses AGT or jacks in heavy ports. You see the occasional megaposi or plasma annihilator, but these are mostly specialty ships with easily exploitable weaknesses. A dual-megaposi Centaur is great fun against fighters, for example, but typical heavies eat it alive.
