"A delay seems silly: they're already forced into a small area. If you can't jack their shit up, you got problems."
well put, If they manage to reach the dock at any speed while your shooting them they deserve to dock.
I was actually pushed into the bay by somebody shooting my mothload of swarms once. Ironically I probably would have overshot my approach otherwise if not for the concussion of their swarms.

uc: You will never see me using the imperial system, unless I can gain money by doing so. This will not be a place where I will be able to earn money, so you will only see me using the metric system. Get with the time, folks.
orly tosh? So what do you measure time in if not in minutes and seconds?
microfortnights and nanocenturies?

Minutes and seconds ARE part of the metric system(s).
The three metric systems (mks, cgs and, more importantly, SI) time units are all seconds.

Thanks Katrina, I was on the verge of replying with an even more acidic comment than my previous one.
I second roda slane's suggestion. Let's make docking more fun by making ships have to enter the small docking bay (at any angle will do).
"I suggest moving the logical dock to about half way (or more) inside the physical dock, or even make it so your ship must completely enter the physical dock, in order to complete the docking. This would force pilots to straiten out their flight path during docking, or risk greater contact with the physical dock."
I'm a huge fan of close-quarters flight!
