Yeah, the story can be that one of the connie nomads (since nomads usually have outdated equipment) got stranded, and is selling its old stuff for..
Awesome!
Awesome!
I like new ship looks. Especially if they're replacing the dated-looking ships.
Now I guess Obsidian is gonna be even MORE pissed that I smashed her Collector's Edition Pink Axia Guardian Wraith. Perhaps that can be the reason for the new structural design: The new design can take behemoth impacts better...

I'm sure Leber will find a way to smash up her new one in no time.
I like the new ship a lot...as the Reverant. I also whole-heartedly support LostCommander's idea. Keep the Axia Wraith, I like it.
There's nothing wrong with having ships that look a little dated...it's like the streets of Moscow where the mafia drives gorgeous new Mercedes, Volvo and Audi cars next to 70's era Ladas and Volgas. Same story with jets...put a MiG-19 or -21 next to an Su-27 and you almost want to laugh, yet they are all in the same skies nowadays.

The only problem with the whole "collector ship" "dated is cool" "mafia driving 70's era Ladas" and what not, is we're not exactly talking about a difference of quality in material and design. We're talking about a difference in quality of realism.
That said I do like the idea of keeping it around, but I think that whenever the opportunity to replace a realistly (is that a word?) dated model, it should be jumped upon.
Keep the Wraith around in the same manner as the original EC-88.

Could people who have already purchased the wraith keep it and it could become a "vintage" wraith. It could sell for more and not many people would have it. And because everyone would be selling it, it would become rarer and rarer until its no longer seen flying around. By which time it would be very valuable (even though it sucks [like picasso's scribbles :D ]).
the new ship looks good, but i rather liked the "space-boat" shape of the wraith.
personally i'd prefer the cent get a new mesh (as it's lower level than the wraith and in my opinion looks much more dated)
anyway, when the wraith model is changed i'm in favor of the Axia variant keeping the old hull.

No, Lord Q; people (including newbies) like the Centurion mesh. It could perhaps do with a new skin to do away with the cockpit a bit, but leave the mesh alone.
The centurion is going to be updated, just like everything else. He's right, it does look rather dated. And it's less trivial for me to "spruce up" than the warthog/vulture. But the basic shape of the cent will be retained when Luis redoes it, since he'll be modeling based on the current OBB/collision model.
Mkay, understandable and awesome; thanks for the note incarnate. :)
if youre not gonna change stats, then its not 'putting a new ship into production', its just changing the way a ship looks.
if it is so difficult to do balance, maybe there is some way you can automate balance testing and/or reduce its cost so that it is easier to add ships.
i would not be embarassed by the 'old shapes' or the old textures even.

I agree with Lost Commander's post and that the axia wraith be kept as is. Also: I'd like to see an Itani IDF varient of the wraith that keeps the same look of the original wraith but has increase armor (25000) and handling like a valk.
lol.
A wraith with 25k armor and handle like a valk? Why not give the Itani (and I am Itani) the prom and be done with? Or even better! a beefed up prom!
No seriously, that is not very smart

Incarnate, any chance i could DL the mesh and skin templates....I got an idea, was thinking to see what it would look like if you flatened it out a bit on the vertical axix to resemble the old wrath a lil more. (besides i love tinkering with models, for no apparent reason)
I'm all for updating the models.
It would have been nice if the new Wraith looked a bit more like the old Wraith. (I've become attached to the old tub, I always kinda suspected that it got its name because it looks a bit like the Pacman ghosts, or the traditional man-with-sheet-over-head version of a ghost).
As upper remarked, that model would make a better replacement for the Atlas. I also suggest it would make a decent Hornet replacement.
The upper variants, and especially the Axia, can be quite effective kiling machines, and the move to this model might remove one of the Wraith's balancing features - its very wide hit/collision area.
Whether that's a good or bad thing, I'm not sure.
I don't mind either way, really, but I agree it would be nice to see the old Wraith kept around in some form.

I just want two changes incorporated:
(1) No pink available for wraiths.
(2) Axia wraith variant changed to something else. I suggest the following names:
*Axia Crush
*Axia Tin-Can
*Axia Sub-Compactable*
*=(Behemoth not included)

Tin Can?
Reminds me of destroyers...

So, are we getting a new duck or what? :-D

or what :P
The wraith always seemed a little clumsy to match it's name... but this Revenant seems downright ghaslty. =)
