Eh say what you will, its to busy in the frist place, so im going to be making adjustments.

EDIT: besides I just chatted with momerath and even if themap was amazing it couldnt be used due to the fact that they want to use an expandable format, So I'm going to finsh this one perhaps use it for something guild related and itll end being a fan map. I got no problem with that ^^

Chikira:
Stop pimping your stupid map outside of the relevant threads, PLEASE.

this is a thread for client suggestions.

tibbles is on to something with the color schemes, in fact, I touched on it a bit in my diagram, if you'll read it. http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/3122/vouistoryboard3nt.png Adding customizability is always a good thing, even in something as trivial as colors... and the upside, is that it's really trivial to implement too.

Don't listen to them Chikira.
I think your map is damn sexy.

You must not get out a lot if you think a map is sexy. Or you're a cartographer.

Hahah, that made me think of Wally in Monkey Island 2/3.

On topic:

this has been mentioned before, but I thought I would post it again just for the heck of it:
It would be nice if IFF could be changed by the user, id est I can set the status (friendly/neutral/hostile) on a per-target basis. That way the IFF indicator would have some reason of existence at all. Right now it is far from being helpful, if someone who appears green on your radar can blast you to bits in a furball, just because the 'target closest enemy' does not work on him.

If control over IFF is not to be given to the user, determination needs to be diversified. Maybe make weighted decisions based on faction standing of the target compared to yours (major factions have more importance than minor factions, so that if you are a Serco admired player and meet a Serco who has -700 Serco standing, but you have both neutral or positive standing in most or all minor factions, s/he is still hostile on your radar.

get in line... this has been on the wish list for a long time.

Thanks kix ^^ cant please everyone though.

Suggestion, make the radar/ chat boxs scalable, as well as the motion indicators and green bars.

Edit: Cunjo, just because my map is ho, doesnt mean it doesnt have feelings! ^^ Eh just had to.

*points Cunjo to the PFS script*

Nifty little workaround that Nerde Verde and I designed. Runs in BASH at the moment, so if you're on a PC, you need cygwin, but it's not like us Mac and Unix people care :P

how does it work and where do I get it?
Feb 28, 2006 Alundaio link
waypoints? lol be original...all mmorpgs have them...how about somthing like a pulse beacon. you can jettison it off your ship and it will display its exact location on the radar. It seems more realistic for a nice space mmorpg.
Feb 28, 2006 KixKizzle link
YES!
And when we have parties we can all jettison like a hundred pulse beacons!!!!
It'll be like a disco party without the bad music.

Hence the "this has been mentioned before". After quickly (very quickly) perusing the entire thread, I couldn't find a mention of it, and since the devs are more likely to pay heed to this thread, I thought it fit in, especially since it is part of the User Interface.

But you're right, of course, the suggestion I rewrote has been posted multiple times before.

Heh. Well this is about beta7. I don't know about any of you but that flashing green on the screen whenever you get hit gives me a splitting headache.

make it red and green like christmas! :P
Mar 01, 2006 Cunjo link
Red!

RED! RED! RED!

P.S.
All Your Pulse Beacons Are Belong To Us.
lmao @ kix' disco party... ships should definately be able to carry pulse beacons for navigation and ranging... when targeted (can be targeted from over 3000m, like group members) they should give info on the time dropped, the nation they belong to, and the player they belong to. they should also be destructable.

And they should be loaded into and jettisoned from the cargo bay. Make it a widget that takes up 3u, and you have a winner!

Probably been said a thousand times already, but I don't think it can be emphasized enough:

Among the very first "add-ons" to the UI should be one that allows you to set your own UI colors; a lot of people are complaining that the current light blue screen hurts their eyes, and are keeping away from the betas because of it. With the beta about to become the only UI, this needs to be implemented very very soon (of course, this is coming from a guy who hasn't programmed since the days of Turbo Pascal and thus has no idea how hard it's going to be).

Perhaps the new cilent could also feature a small addition such as an overall lvl?

Example: 8/8/5/11/9 would translate into Overall LVL 41.

The overall lvl would show up with the others in the Char info screen. Another thing to do with levels would be when you target someone, up in the right hand corner where the health and distance are displayed, make room for either the Overall Lvl, perhaps just the number, or even the Combat, LW, and HW of the other player. IT would just save time from having to use the Char info screen all the time.

I would really like Universal Inventory to be sorted alphabetically by Sector name rather than Station name. It is a real pain to sort through things you have scattered across the galaxy using the current method of sorting. This should be a trivial thing to fix really... I hope it is changed.

Thanks :)
