NPC Transports... Wha???

Mar 12, 2005 roguelazer link
If you kill a Serco transport in Itani monitored space, you get "Itani reputation increased noticably". If you kill one in Itani guarded space, you get a KOS. Does anybody else find that a tad bit odd?

make up your own analogy with our own world. maybe its a bug, but it doesnt seem unrealistic to me.

Like a serco trader bot? Ya, it makes sense, they dont want the serco in their space, you did them a favor. Than you killed one of their own, they are mad. NFZ still applies to them though.

No you misunderstand he is having the same problem I am having that I am going to do another post about. If you attack a serco transport in space with an itani space station you get kos the same as if it was a serco player. Both of these are wrong, it makes sense for a UIT player since they are not taking sides but any serco ship in itani space wether it is at a station or not should be fair game.

Otherwise we can't have raids on station sectors which is highly unrelaistic for a war situation!

I got +1000 Itani standing by breaking the law (violating an Itani NFZ) & killing a peaceful NPC trader. I think that's just really not right. That's almost like getting a medal for shooting dead an illegal immigrant while he's mowing the elementary school's lawn.

But, from what I've heard, this is currently the only way to get +1000. I think I've heard the devs are working on adding missions to get Pillar of Society, which is good, but I think they should also change it so killing NPC traders doesn't "significantly increase" your standing - especially not in NFZ (note that killing NPC traders outside of NFZ had no effect at all on my standing). I mean, even if people don't like the Serco/Itani traders in Itani/Serco space, they're peaceful traders, you shouldn't be rewarded for killing them.

Oh, another intersting thing, is when I killed the NPC trader in NFZ, I did get temporary KOS, but it actually wasn't as big a drop in standing as I think it should have been - I still had docking privileges.

Draw the conclusions, Beolach. The 'law' is there to be broken and the 'government' will reward you for that. Also they pay you to kill 'criminals' without any kind of legal process. But they will accept to remove that bounty if the 'criminal' pays a substantial amount of money. A bribe to avoid a 'sentence'. No no no, something is wrong here. This is not a governement or a law but a ... vendetta.

The eternal distinction between vengeance and justice... So clear in theory, so blurred in reality.
