I've started it twice and halfway through the mission, the scanner for that mission dissappears and then all the crazy bots seem to dissappear. It happens after I kill 2-3 of them.

VO 1.1.6.2 or whatever the latest version is at posting.

If you leave the sector those things will happen.

To be honest I'm mildly surprised you managed to kill 2-3 bots without the hazmat bot being brushed by a bit of space dust and nuking the sector...

It does say that you only have 30 minutes... if you take longer that may happen.

I can confirm this bug. I decided to try the haz bot mission today
and each time the scanner disappeared after not too long, along with the mission-specific bots. In all cases, there was no "you failed" or "you succeeded" message in the mission console, nor was there the reputed "huge explosion" that signifies the death of the bot. Each time I went back to the local station to dock, the mission was no longer selected.

if you try it again I suspect you will find that before the scanner dissapears you scanned, (or shot) a bot that was not part of the mission.
