Spy Mission #2 bugs :
I gave this mission a whirl a few times, and I have some odd results:
first time: mission aborted without notice. My Scanner disappeared completely. Here is a log of the time:

At this point, my scanner had disappeared and I couldn't continue the mission. No, I didn't die. But this flawed me quite a bit.
Second:
The DenTek Collectors have quite a bit of a blast radius. Couple this with the fact that they run off in groups on this mission, and you are stuck with the waste-carrier being blown up by its friends explosions. This makes the mission quite a bit harder, and not at all fun to proceed with..

spider, on your first mission, did you leave the sector?
if you did, that causes the mission to abort. I'm not sure why, but it does.

Spider: You have to break the bots out of their groups by using the asteroids. Basically, hide on one side of the roid and wait for the mass of following bots to try to find their way around. Inevitably one gets broken off from the group, and you can swooop around and kill it before the others mass back together.
No, I didn't leave the sector. The scanner just disappeared from my ship :/
Asteroids trick : Yeah, but if this is whats a second level mission, avaiable even before we reach level 2 combat, I expect it to match that in difficulty ;)

According to the log, you left the sector before you noticed you don't have the scanner anymore.
That will currently abort the mission and remove the scanner from your ship.

I tried this mission a few times myself tonight.. Had the same problem with the explosion. I didn't think of using asteroids to seperate them.. But yeah, that's a little more than I would have expected from an 'early' mission.
As for the scanner.. I launched once, realized that I'd forgotten to adjust my weapon groups.. Got back on the station, and the scanner had vanished from my ship. I had not actually -left- the sector with the station.. I launched, realized my groups were off, and immediately re-docked.
That's a little odd, isn't it?

i did this mission, flew to the sector, and started scannin/killing bots.

suddenly, mid-mission, i lost the scanner and the mission was "away"
No Scanner, No exploded bomb, No Log-entry... simply gone.
Back in the station i saw no active mission.

Same thing just happened to me. If you kill a bot that ISN'T malfunctioning, the scanner disappears and the mission gets failed.
I had a different issue with the scanner in an espionage mission. I'm sorry, I don't remember the mission number and didn't write it down. I did write down what happened.
Basically, this is more of a 'would like to have' than a bug I guess. If you don't have a free port for the scanner you don't get one. But it never tells you this. It would be more friendly if it randomly chose a port to occupy and just moved whatever was there out. Or it could prompt the user to make room or somehow alert the user of this problem. I didn't notice until I was leaving the station and I had to go back, abort, make space, and re-choose the mission.

Another espionage mission bug I found involved mission completion.
I found the CEO and gota a message saying to get back to a station to report back. I left the sector and I got a message saying that I had left before I was able to get the info they needed. I don't understand what happened here.

Wow, you actualy FOUND the CEO? I've never even been able to find that guy... even after scanning every bot... twice... and killing a few... and scanning the new ones a few times...
the CEO is inside bots?... hmm... then i should report that the epionage mission sent me to a sector that didn't have any bots in it... just roids... and seeing as it was the first time i did the mission i scanned ever roid... didnt find anything.... is that mission just about luck? or does the bot have a distinctive feature, like will it say CEO or is the part of a corp like AXIA or it is only the transports(would make sense)?

There should be 7-8 bot with names in the sector
Yar, i have a few probs with the spy missions, firstly, its seems if you get sent to a sector that another player is in/goes in while the mission is active, it just aborts, removes scanner, blah de blah..., Also at random times (cant seem to pin this one) the scenner just disapears....) But saying that, i have done al the spy missions, several times, an although i found the Waste bot hard, its not that hard....
