Whenever I look at something, such as an astroid, station, or wormhole, my HUD and message window disappears. It is normally still there. How do I fix this?

Did you press "h"?

It sounds like a familiar bug with old video drivers of certain video cards in Windows.
What video card do you have?
Try switching to OpenGL mode to see if the problem goes away. It probably will.
