Aiming angle error related to capship turrets

Aug 10, 2023 abortretryfail link
I've noticed after many hours of Deneb skirmishes that there's some kind of angle error with the Auto-Aim on the position of turrets on ships.

If you have a turret targeted on a moving capship, Auto-Aim will occasionally fire wildly in the wrong direction, away from the HUD leadoff reticle.

Likewise if you are in a turret on a moving capship (or using +ActivateTurrets on a player-owned one), your own shots will sometimes fire off into la-la land, far away from the HUD leadoff reticle.

The effect is especially pronounced if you're doing both: Trying to shoot at another ship's turrets from a turret. In this case you might as well just shut off Auto-Aim and eyeball it.

It's weirdly inconsistent, and seems to depend on where the ship is positioned and oriented within the invisible math deep in the fabric of space. Usually on a ship that is not moving, you won't notice it, but there's been a couple rare cases where I've been parked and had this happen and the only way for it to go away was to move the ship just a bit.

Probably the easiest way to reproduce this is to target and shoot at the turrets on a moving Trident with something like a Gatling MkII. It's pretty obvious when it happens.

Game Footage on discord

think this will work maybe, need a upload button like dam.

Anyhow this is what i assume is what abortretryfail means.

I tend to see it occur often when targeting smaller targets (turrets, small ships). and seems to not be effected when sat still for the most part.

Yeah, that's a good example of what I'm talking about. It's pretty obvious when it happens, you can see the turret just starts firing off to the left of the target in la-la land then magically goes back after the ship has moved a bit.
