Connection Problems on Laptop but Not Phone
Hi guys,
So, I'm not a computer guy, but here's the gist: When I went to log onto VO with my laptop tonight the computer takes several seconds to "get characters" (it's normally instantaneous) and fails to "Enter Universe" after several minutes.
Thinking it may be a problem in the connection between New York and Toronto, I tried pinging the vendetta servers with no issues. I tried using my phone to connect and play with no issues. I tried using my TV to connect and play VO; no issues there either.
All my devices are on the same wifi network. It's just the laptop that is failing to connect with alacrity on the character selection, then totally when entering the universe. I've tried switching accounts and starting VO without any plugins to no effect. I'm stumped.

(Suggestions is probably not the ideal forum for this discussion, but just to make sure you're able to find the thread for the moment, we'll keep it here for now)..(Er, okay, someone moved it while I was typing?)
- Can you tell us anything about your computer? OS version? Hardware?
- Do you play any other fast-paced online games on your computer?
Wifi networks can be kind of notoriously faulty. Sometimes certain wifi-chips just don't "talk" as well with other specific wifi-chips, and various driver versions can be problematic.
Your phone or TV might have a much friendlier wifi chip than your laptop, for instance.
So, a few possibilities:
1) There could be some kind of firewall software or anti-virus software on the PC, which is trying to do some kind of "protection" thing and doesn't like the game. We hear about this kind of issue occasionally. You'll definitely want to disable anything like that when running the game.
2) The laptop might benefit from a wifi driver update? You have to find out exactly what type you have, and then you may need to download a new driver from the company (like Intel or Realtek or Broadcom or whomever made the actual wifi chip).
If you're able to connect fine from your phone, on wifi, and not your PC on wifi, then the problem is not between New York and Toronto, the problem is within your home.

Sorry about posting in Suggestions, that was a miss-click. I deleted and re-posted to a more suitable location.
My computer is an old Macbook Pro (mid 2015) running OS Monterrey 12.6.6
I do not play any other fast-paced online games on this machine. It's strictly a media server for the TV and a dedicated "Vendetta Box" at this point in its life.
My phone and television are way newer and probably play a lot nicer with everything than Wi-Fi (0x14E4, 0x133).
1) I had a similar thought, and something somewhat tangential as I have a faulty mesh extender in the other room.
2) I gave it a full restart and it ran a few updates, one of which updated the wifi driver settings. This apparently fixed the issue, as I tried logging on a few minutes ago and there was no problem at all. This was probably it, but it was odd since from what I could tell, nothing had changed from when using VO/this machine from the night before. Weird.
Thank you for the support and the suggestions. Not a a lot of companies, let alone devs would give this the time of day; not to mention suggestions on how to fix this or even to say, "It's coming from inside the house!"

I'm glad to hear it's working now :). Have fun.
