When i exit the station everything freezes up and all i can do is watch as my ship goes into the void... not even the chat commands work so i can /explode... so all i can do is alt f4 and delete the character because if i log on again as that chara i am just floating and in the same situation i was in before... WHAT THE f*** is going on.. anyone have any insite?
thats umm wierd.
what is your platform info...does it always do this, or just sometimes. When did it start, did you change anything b4 it started(configs or files or anything?)

usualy you can still open the consol (` <--- the thing about tab does it) and type /quit to fix this.
I've bugged the devs about it sinse day 1 but it never got fixed.

We can't duplicate it here unfortunately.
so you at the office have never popped out of a station and had your controls lock so only the consol was accessable?
no i can't even use the tab... imagine the keyboard and mouse just becoming unhooked....(no i did not unhook it)
The only thing that has happened to us like that is once in a very long while when we pop out of the station our view is really far behind where it's supposed to be and we can't do anything until the view catches up to where it's supposed to be.
Imagine having the camera be much further behind the ship when launching from the station. The camera then slowly moves forward through the station and then to the launch bay and then everything works normally. It's basically due to the game-time on the client not being synced with the game-time on the server.

Oh, that's what it is? I get that all the time. I'll warp into a sector, the warp animation will end and my camera will come zooming in from way behind. The same effect can be gotten by pressing F2, then F3, then boosting for awhile, then pressing F3 again.
I have had the "black screen of death" coming out of the station in 12 also but only once. I had to option/command + esc to quit the game...only option.
another (but maybe related) problem...
I get 4 or 5 of the "chimes" when I push the "leave station" button in 12...everything hangs and then releases like normal. It does it when I warp into 12 or 9 (sans chimes) also (both are the laggiest sectors for me).
I'm presuming this is the "game-time" sync problem you describe, Ray?

When you say 5 'chimes' you mean the sound repeats? If so, that's probably stuff loading from system memory to video memory when you leave the station I think.
Yes...the sound repeats...like a broken record.
So, my 768 megs of DDR SDRAM and 64 megs of nVIDIA GeForce4 MX video ram are having that much of a problem sending stuff to my 17" plasma display set at 1440x900 while Vendetta is set at 1024x768 window mode?

blame it on crappy nvidia drivers? Maybe AGP is somehow disabled? I dunno.
I reset my video to 1440x900 full screen and the problems completely disappeared. I guess it was a conversion problem. :)
do any of you have any ideas on how to solve my prob?... I had a problem like that today. I "/logoff"-ed in sector 16 and when I came back all the controls where dead except chat. I could see everything and chat, but the ship wouldn't move and f2 didn't work. I don't know if it was because the frigate was about to warp in or what, but I thought I'd report it.
I have a suggestion. When you first log on, DON'T, I repeat DON't be in the console mode when the sector finishes loading. This will cause only the console to work. I learned this the hard way. >.<
Muf, it works fine for me. The console overlays the chat window, a simple tap'o'tilde sorts things out.
EDIT:
nm. read the posts and err. i was wrong

WAIT! I know the answer.
What Vendetta has done (it did this to me a while back) is reset ALL your key binds. None of your keys are bound to anything.
On the startup screen before you log on, choose options, keyboard, and reset to default. Problem solved :)

Ah, yes, but if it just unbound everything, you don't have a way to logout...
