Vendetta Online does not start

Nov 28, 2021 derBARON link
Hi,

it says it can not delete directx11.dll and therefore can not continue with the update. When starting the game its always the same update process. Seems like it does not "save" the last status of the game.

It only runs ONCE, when I restart the computer. After the restart I click on VENDETTA ONLINE and it starts the UPDATE PROCESS. After a while I can start the game.

When I exit the game and try to start again, I get the above mentioned message.

What I dont understand - why does VENDETTA always run the update (same) process. Doesnt it save what it downloaded just minutes before?

I run it on WIN11, sufficient memory and ADMINISTRATOR rights I checked and are active.

Best, derBARON

The game isn't exiting properly, I think - let me reconfirm, you run the game fine once, but only after a restart can you relaunch?

The updater also "verifies" your game files, to make sure they don't get tampered with, fyi./

Anyways, if it is a failure to relaunch, then try following these instructions?

Did you mean to say that the error reads "can not delete directx11.dll", or did you mean DETECT

Per the OP on Discord, this was resolved with Windows updates and cleanup.

Correct. Runs ONCE fine, after that cant restart before doing a complete restart of the PC. I tried the TASK MANAGER solution but no VENDETTA process is running...

Error: Cannot delete 'drivers/directx11.dll' to update: Permission denied
Error: Cannot open 'drivers/directx11.dll' to update: Permission denied

Although the programme is run as ADMIN... and, if you look into the folder... there is NO directx11.dll file...

We tested this on Windows 11, and we were unable to reproduce any of the problems you're reporting.

To take a guess, it's possible that a previous-runtime of the game launcher did not exit, and had access to the files "locked" by the OS. This would require killing the old process, or rebooting the computer, to clear out the prior runtime.

I don't know why the app wouldn't show up on Task Manager, but if Windows had categorized it in some unusual way, it might require enabling particular options in Task Manager to display (just a theory, but I haven't personally used Windows 11 yet, or seen if there are behaviour changes in this area).

This is an unusual circumstance, not one that we've heard much of before, but it's the only thing that makes any sense. If you (or others) run into this again, and you find it is cleared by a reboot, then there is almost certainly some kind of "zombie" updater process running, or Windows itself has a bug (the latter is also possible, W11 being pretty new).
