User unable to download game resources.
On discord, user "Tokyorevengers" had an issue on his device. When launching the game, he got to a screen displaying that he could not locate the game's resources:
His device was a Huawei MatePad T8. This doesn't appear to be related to his network at first glance, as he was able to download and play the game on his iPhone perfectly fine. However, when looking at his device's specs on this website I noticed a unique note in the OS section: no Google Play Services.
As such, I wonder if downloading the game's resources requires google's services on android at this time. If not, then I'm not sure what his bug is. If it IS required, is there any kind of work-around this user could try?

Not at present. He would need a "sideload" build of the game. We have made sideload versions available over the years, but we haven't made a recent one in a long time.
Basically, the current version of the Play Store game has some resources in the "APK" and others in an extended-download file called an "OBB".
There are a great many games that would not work for him, basically anything larger than 150MB.
A sideload version that packed all 600MB into a single APK would probably be installable for him. Or, alternatively, a minimal-updater version that downloads everything (which we also don't have right now).
But, then, if he doesn't have Google Play Services, how did he "get" the game in the first place? Having the Play Store requires having Play Services.
Anyway, none of this sounds like anything wrong with the game, and no, we don't have a giant sideload APK available right now.
