A wierd bug
I was running away from a trident,so I jumped into a worm hole while I had the chat open. Mid travel, I pressed the back button on my phone wich bugged out the game and led to me getting stuck in the chat. I restarted the game after that happend, and it led me into the "unnable to connect" menu. So I restarted again and it worked that time
Thanks for the report. This doesn't really sound like a game-bug, per-se, but more like "the best we can do, with a heavyweight game, under the Android application lifecycle".
The game should definitely not have left you stuck in chat; but, if the game was backgrounded and then foregrounded, while in the middle of loading a sector, that may have been a longer-than-usual time for it to try and re-engage the rendering engine (which is disabled when the app is backgrounded, to reduce battery consumption).
Anyway, we'll keep an eye out for any other related reports like this. But, frankly, problems of this sort usually have a lot to do with the specifics of a given device, how many other apps are competing for RAM in the background, the particular version of Android in use, the phase of the moon and the recent activity of butterflies in the Amazon.
The game is usually pretty robust to being backgrounded and then restored, but there have been some inherent Android platform-changes that made that a little more problematic.
So, anyway, if people see continued issues with being "stuck in chat" on the Android version, please let us know; we'll aim to get a consistently reproducible test-case, and we'll do a deeper dive. But, investigating this, at present, would probably be a time-consuming "black hole" of little ultimate value.
