Strange behavior of NPCs alone in the sector: Unrats and an escorted ship
So around a few minutes ago (19:15-19:20 UTC) I was escorting a Behemoth from Bractus to Odia. There were Unrats in Bractus B-14, and I quickly disappeared into the wormhole while the Unrats were behind me the whole time (and one would assume that they would stay near the WH afterwards).
When I jumped into Odia, the escorted ship was still not in the same sector with the Bractus wormhole to Odia. A few seconds later the Behemoth jumped to Bractus B-14, and in a minute it appeared on the Odia side with me, completely unscratched.
I've noticed that the positions of Capellas etc. sometimes reset when one enters the same sector again after a while (e.g. in a sector with a WH, the Capella will not be where you saw it last time, and will "jump back" into the asteroid field when you return, and then head to the WH again - seen it with Itani/Serco blockade cappies as well).
So I'm wondering what is actually happening there. I'm guessing the sectors with NPC ships do not have an ongoing simulation going on when players are not there?
Could this explain why the escorted ship was unharmed?
