Defending self in NFZ still triggers Strike Force
Player A shoots Player B in a station sector. Player B gets the message that they can defend themselves without factional repercussions. Player B shoots Player A in the station NFZ. Strike force comes after Player B.
If this is the intended behavior then the messages you get when you fire weapons in the NFZ and the message indicating you can defend yourself should be updated to reflect that.

We'll look into this, but for future reference, we appreciate if all reported bugs of this kind could include a specific example (location in the game, time, etc) that we can immediately check in the logs, to validate what occurred.
People sometimes report issues that they simply misunderstood, and we'll easily spend hours or days chasing our tails, trying to reproduce problems that don't actually exist.
Which isn't to say that's true here (we will investigate, as I said); but it's true sometimes, and it saves us a lot of energy if people can include specifics in their reports.

sorry for the low detail, it's happened 4 separate times that I know of to FAMY players in the past 2 weeks or so. This evening in particular kennyb tried defending himself from killthefed, Itani Silencer, and Joguito in Edras G-11 and the strike force came after his trident.
It happened to me at Edras G-11 as well last week right around the server reset, I can't remember who it was but they shot my goliath (which I was undocked from), I got the message that I could defend myself, and I shot them (again, not from goli), then the strike force attacked me, including one vulture that continued to target my goliath even after the server reset and the end of the tempkos though I didn't shoot any strike force members.
It happened to Shameless. and Munny as well, although I'm less informed of the details of those incidents.
Edit: now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure that each of these cases including Munny's and Shameless.'s involved capships.

Yup, noticed this too.
This happened to me as well. Greenwall was pcbing my trident. I got a self defense notification, so i undocked and shot him. Instant tkos. I didn't report it because i was going to try to replicate it on the test server so i could give you good data.
So far, we have been unable to find any evidence of this. Which isn't to say it isn't a real problem, just that we haven't found any examples so far.
The situations we have investigated to date (some of which were cited above) have all been cases where a player's attack splash-damage (like a rocket) inadvertently caused damage to another player in the NFZ, and resulted in the TKOS response against them. Basically, they were trying to shoot the person they were "allowed" to, under self-defense rules, but missed and damaged someone else.
Ray's going to add more debugging data to the logs, so we can see more detail in the future. If this happens to you, please post here with the exact specifics of location within the game, and date / game-time when it occurred.

I don't think we've made any NFZ changes in at least a month, maybe two? The reports above seem to all be since after that.
So, anyway, as I mentioned, if anyone does see this happen, please report specifics about exactly when and where.

How about being attacked by NPC ships in the NFZ? I recently got a Xang Xi Temp-KoS but their voys still attacked me in a UIT NFZ. Haven't tried retaliating because the Strike Force would come after me I assume.
(The NPC ships weren't attacked by the Strike Force for attacking me in the NFZ)

Like I keep saying, please post a specific date and time.
We keep doing these deep dives on log analysis, just to come up with "you misunderstood what happened, nothing was wrong". Some of these investigations will take hours, even days.
We do truly appreciate the bug reports, and we want to solve problems, but if you want to help us out, we need the reports to be detailed and specific.

Alright here you go :)
Ukari L-2, 21:31 today (a few minutes ago - the time is in UTC?), inside the NFZ, got some hits from *Remu Dotras and the Capella tried to shoot me down as well.

And another fresh experience from Nyrius F6 from just a few mins ago, got killed by Ineubis *Karaktaka Vito, also in the NFZ.
wsad1234: The issue you're reporting should be fixed tonight.
However, the original issue, raised in the OP, is something we've yet to actually see in log data, or replicate ourselves. So far, the reported cases appear to have been player-misunderstandings of what was happening in intensive battle situations.
So, for the rest of this, let's keep it to the OP topic. If people have other issues to report, even if they "seem similar", please report them in a separate thread. Discussions of more than one issue in a single thread gets pretty confusing, and harder to track, and harder to understand what people are reporting.
