/enterturret only works on ships you own
When docked with another player or NPC-owned player capship, /enterturret # says "Turret # does not exist" even if it does.
I get it. I didn't fix this with TurretHop either because the game's API makes it a huge pain to do, but you guys have more access to stuff than we players do... Maybe there's a good way to fix this on the inside?

That’s odd. I send the enterturret command to my gunner and it works with no issue. Maybe because it was invited as a gunner?

If this isn't working, it's probably just a use-case oversight. All these features were implemented very quickly, in a single day (with minimal design feedback from me), and focused on a primary respective usage case. For turret hopping, Ray may only have tested usage by the owner/captain.

Yeah it works differently for invited gunners versus docked ones.
