Asteroids' Invisible, Deadly Boundary.
I was trading today, passing through sc10, and I passed by a roid. I didn't even TOUCH the thing (come into contact with teh surface) and I had issues due to a collision.
My cargo was dropped, and I returned to pick it up.
Upon arrival, I discovered all 12 units floating visibly in space. The IRRITATING part was that I could only reach 9 of them due to an invisible barrier. Line of Sight coding please? Even better, make the roids only solid AT their surfaces, not anywhere else?

Can you say exactly where you were so we can see which asteroid is the problem?
at the console type /displayshippos
try to ignore the hippos and you will see the position of your ship. post that here and we will look at it.
The problem with exact collision detection is mainly with the progressive mesh asteroids. There is no way for them to be exact because the mesh changes continuously. The collision hull and the renderable mesh are separate and the collision mesh has fewer polygons to speed up collision detection a little.
We tried to make sure the collision hull is smaller or the same position as the rendered mesh but sometimes that's hard to do exactly. and the artist may have missed a spot.

Cargo always get stuck inside stuff (especially things like stations...) couldn't it be possible to increase the ¨range¨ of these cargo, so you could still pick them up?
Sheean, you couldn't only just see the glow, you could actually see the whole f'ing cargo box floating in space. if there had been no invisble barrier, I would have been able to collect my cargo without issuing 4 times.
Yeah, I tried to pick up the cargo too, I barely tapped the thing and BOOM

Hmm... I had something maybe related to this, in s11. I saw someone (forget who) just fly into a roid (one near the station)... and just went inside... me looking how that could happen, flew to the roid, at something like 30 m/s in a 100% HP valk, hit the roid and went..BOOOOOM! :(
That's different... you can go inside the skins of the old roids (round). The jagged ones are the only ones affected by my ailment.
I issued on same roid in a vult.. -.-
There's an issue with the stations in 7. I've lost two valks to barely tapping the side of the station inside the roid on the sec10 wh side.
I remember hiding flags in roids in pre3.1 days. :D
