This never used to happen back when mines were targetable.
Now laying mines will cause a small amount of collision damage and flashes your screen red. It's very distracting.
Is this a side-effect of changing what type of object they are or something?

Is the ship shielded? Perhaps the mines are being layed inside of the shield,,,
This has happened to me in a Centaur and Ragnarok so far.
What type of mine was used?
It only happens occasionally in the instant the mines are being deployed. Happened to me a couple times with TUs and a Ragnarok.
Another thing that has happened was that my mines actually blew up one of my group members, but I haven't had the chance to reproduce what caused that yet.

This has been happening to me a lot in the past 12 days or so. Usually when i lay prox mines a centaur when turning and dropping at the same time
I'be been seeing this with lightning mines during turns.
Thanks, we'll look into it.
I have had this happen with Lightning mines and Conc mines. Haven't tried TU, Prox or Drain. It does it again after launching if you're right on top of them.
Launching a mine at the same time as a missile will also cause detonation as well.
I would suggest adding a 30 second delay before the mines arm themselves allowing the layer to clear the area.

That would completely erase the purpose of every mine used in "live" player to player combat. If I need to wait 30 seconds until the TU I just dropped detonates so I get rid of 3 Greyhounds chasing my Trident, then I may aswell just not equip a TU. Because we'll pass the area the TU is in in way less time than 30 seconds...

Perhaps what you want is a grenade then...
It might be possible to make the delay time user adjustable .Incarnate would have to comment on that.

I'm fine with that aslong as I can set it to zero seconds!

Holy crap, no. No no no no NO!
Do you even know how to use mines? They already take too long to trigger if you're attempting to use Conc or Prox to hit someone who is chasing you.
Anyway, they've always exploded when you hit them with a missile. Don't do that.
This collision damage thing is new, since they changed them to be untargetable.

Yeah, we have a fix in the works.
So, uh, did your "fix" involve making it so nothing collides with mines at all, including weapons fire?
Because that's what is happening now. Shooting them does nothing.

Sheesh arf - they fixed the issue and still you complain? :}
Kinda like going to the doctor saying "Hey, my toe hurts, can you fix it?" and having them cut off your foot.
You haven't been able to shoot your own mines since they became persistent. You can only shoot hostile mines.
I was shooting my own mines two weeks ago Ray. What the heck are you on about?
