I didn't read all of it but I am aware of the issue and it has crashed and killed my ship multiple times before. If you take the mission and do not enter the sector for a while (and say 100 NPCs are lost during that time) and then come back in, it "catches up" and shows you all the explosions and jump animations, mostly killing your VO.
I reported it a while ago but forgot about the ticket (since I felt only I experienced it and thought it may have to do with my specific hardware) after vacation. It's good there's a bug-thread here now and that I am not alone with this, haha. I recommend you edit the OP for the relevant facts, though.
