Joystick deadzones.
http://lucky.operswithoutlife.net/ven-up/deadzones.jpg - just an example. I whould like to have them since its impossible to bring a ship to complete halt without it.

There are deadzones already, but you can't configure them in the joystick panel AFAIK. You can edit the config by hand, though.
Not sure what the best user interface for this is.. Offhand, I can think of how Colin Mcrae 2 does it (using arrow keys for everything)... Maybe pointing to the slider and using the arrow keys to adjust the deadzone? I dunno what the most intuitive thing would be.
The other thing is that the sliders that show the joystick position are already adjusted for deadzone, so they'll appear to "stick" in the middle instead of showing you the "true", non-deadzone-adjusted value.

What if you had two little draggable triangles on top, one for each side of the deadzone?
Im also not sure whats the best. But ive seen some good dunno where.
There you could point where the deadzone ends. And the part where marked in an other color (like my blue example) with an percentage digit in it.
Min was 0% max was 50%. Where max filled up to half scale
