Ion Storm Lag
Hello, I am on a mobile device and I am wondering...Why is there very laggy Ion storms, the fog blobs made it glitch out all the time and then Ion storms have really bad lag sometimes, can I get an answer back please? thanks rar.
I wasn't aware anyone could be this clueless.
Turn off the fog blobs if your device is too slow to handle it. Simple!
*facepalm*
Fog blobs are off, I'm just wondering. None of you have to be asses rar.
If fog blobs are disabled, I'm not sure what to tell you. You can turn visual effects down as long as possible, and try that. Also, try using a ship that doesn't have a storm radar extender (ie, don't use a Raptor) and see if that helps.
Aside from the addition of "blobs" for devices with OS-versions newer than Android 5.x, we haven't touched the fog or ion storm implementation on mobile since sometime in 2010. It's been workable on the Tegra 2 and other older chips.. I'm not sure why it would be causing you so many issues.
Did this used to be fast before, and now it has stopped?
Also, to be clear, are you talking about framerate here, and not "network" lag? You can use "/fps" (console or chat) to see the current framerate in-game.

Also just another thing to note: Are you using any plugins? I found things like TargetLess can really slow down the game on mobile devices.
Try without plugins and see if its still "laggy"

I don't use plugins, but thanks..I'll try that stuff. Thanks rar.
Was the multithreading dynamic lighting update that put shadows in their own thread limited to specific platforms? Could it be possible that his device could handle them how they were threaded before, but the additional thread is pushing him over a threshold and using too many of his system resources?
The Android version is not doing multi-threaded rendering, so no. Also, there are no shadows in fog sectors.
ok the lag is caused by router wifi...sorry rar
