I play on PC (windows 7) and on tablet - Lite Sub - and have noticed recently that while mining with Taur with twin HD beams that when mined enough to get a Crystal that one of the beams, along with the bar showing mining progression, disappears when the message goes up that got a Crystal along with the figures showing amount reward for mining. I did not move ship or get out of range, even though both beams are same, and done nothing with triggers to stop one beam. I can stop the beam and immediately trigger it back on and both beams return until it shows another crystal earned. I tried with main character and does not do it since capped at level 4 and the normal "rewards figures" does not show. I am not sure when this started as it has been some time since I played with a ship that was not capped at 4 and was able to equip 2 mining beams. I tried it on computer and on tablet with same results.

This is not a biggie to me, since I will reach cap of 4 very shortly. I just wanted to report it so others would not experience it. I had a friend over and got him on my pc, full sub, and this did not show up even with a HM mining, just to satisfy my mind that it was not related to my pc.

I'm having trouble deciphering what the bug is here. Your description isn't very helpful since I don't know what you think the expected behavior of whatever you think this bug is related to.

He's saying one of his two beams craps out any time the game notifies him about having earned a crystal.

Only HD beams though, the rest work fine as far as I know.

I've noticed this for a while. I'm a pretty new player, and I do quite a bit of mining, I use the first mining beam you get, and then the cheapest large slot mining beam on my revenant. It is easy to rectify in game, but it is annoying. Just to clarify, whenever I mine enough to receive a reward of a crystal, one of my mining beams stop (random every time) but the graphics of the beam are still there, however it does not actually mine, and the mining progression bar disappears. To get it working again all I have to do is switch it off and on again.

Update.

I went mining with a Atlas with single HD beam. At the same point, when message shows about crystal, the indications in HUD about the mining stopped. There was no increase of ore in my cargo hold. The beam effect, and bar showing progress, was still showing and the temperature still went up. I stopped the beam and re-started and all normal till next crystal.

I have not tried with any other mining beam, but I will and update it here also.

The problem is that the mining process is cut in half with dual beams and cut entirely with single beam with each crystal that is earned and it should not do this. It did not do it months ago when I build up my first ship, but is doing it now.

Update - I tried mining with the MK 2 and it does the same thing. This suggests that mining with FTP or Lite will be difficult for anyone.
