I just submitted a support ticket, but this problem may be larger than just affecting me. Tonight I tried to build one of my Two engine pylons for my nearly complete Trident, only to realize I'm dumb and forgot to actually build the 5xFFSA needed (I had all the mats, just forgot to build). Since the pylon build is a mission and FFSA are a different mission, I had to abort in order to build the ffsa. I didn't bother to check to make sure this bug didn't exist, so I immediately took the pylon mission again.

This resulted in me losing:
2x IBAs
11x FCPs
5xFFSA
And all the commodities that go with it since I didn't have all the materials ready to build the second pylon.

Considering how much effort it takes to build IBAs/FCPs AND haul them through the most dangerous section of Grey space, these items should be returned should I ever need to abort a build mission.

Faille Corvelle and Scientist Salarian were both witness to the gathering of these items and the subsequent loss of these items.

The mission system itself is retardedly derpy, so once you abort, you basically lose everything. And isn't a bug, but it seriously needs updating so you can take other missions while doing manufacturing ones.

The trick is that once you realize you have forgotten some items for a build, you must cancel the mission BEFORE you undock and it won't take those items that you already have in the inventory.

Yeah, 3am me was pretty dumb to undock twice...but still, that shouldn't happen.

There has to be something to flag to the mission "hey now is an ok time to take my items". The devs chose to make this flag occur when you undock.

I think there should be a separate button in the mission details, similar to the "Complete Mission" button, that serves as a "hey asshole mission you can take my items now".
