damage while no fire

Nov 24, 2003 CrazySpence link
when i leave a station i can take damage long before i can fire, this is bad.

Yep. Same thing happened to me in sector 7. It got so bad that two blue individuals, Moya and Sapphire, started exploiting this bug. No matter how much I tried to boost, twist, turn, or dodge from the station, their gauss valks always got me. Sherpa tried to get me out of there but my character somehow got stuck in s7. Now I have to get a dev to somehow get me unstuck. It's the connection bug all over again (can see chat but not log on).

Heh, I find that funny. When you mine a station, hide in the dock, and launch seekers from the dock, that is a game mechanic that is working, however mis-designed. So is the docking thing. If you're calling that an exploit, then you're also calling your actions exploits. It's simply a game mechanic that isnt working the way it probably should, but it's not an exploit. In other words, you're going to have to deal with it :D

Funny thing, see, EVERYONE has it, not just you. How's that an exploit if we've got the same disadvantage? it's not. You're just calling it an exploit because you don't like it.

dont turn my bug report into a boo hoo arolte is evil thread.
Nov 24, 2003 fenix link
That was not my intention. If my addition was not needed, then his implications into a bug thread were not either. I was defending myself.

thats nonsense fenix.
you replied to the tread AFTER him
and he made valid points.

It is not nonsense, it's not an exploit if everyone is affected by it. I personally havnt found it much more than an annoyance.

and I quote again

2) Bug abuse: If a bug (that is, an aspect of the game that is not working as it was intended)is discovered and it is misused to seriously interfere with players (killing others while invulnerable, flag capping while invulnerable, etc.) the offender will be asked to cease. If the bug abuse continues, measures up to and including banning can be used.

* There is much talk of "exploiting". This is actually a term used mostly in internet security to describe gaining access through un-secure software, but in Vendetta players are using it to describe the practices of rocket-ramming, stationing, station mining, jumping, and so forth. While many would describe these practices as "cheap", they are NOT against the rules. There is no official punishment for these practices because they take advantage of aspects of the game that are working as they were expected to. The developers have told me, essentially, that the game issues that result are the fault of the developers and are not to be policed by the guides. The developers are well aware of the impact of these practices, and fixes are in the works.

Okay you are quoting something that does NOT support your point:

"There is no official punishment for these practices because they take advantage of aspects of the game that are working as they were expected to."

The undocking invulnerability is INTENDED to last for the same anount of time as the inability to fire, as in previous releases.
It is NOT fair because the person undocking is at a clear and involuntary disadvantage. The change was the result of a bug/mistake and is NOT an invitation to grief.

Seriously people, we have a complicated release with lots of issues - try to concentrate on bug reporting instead of drama.

Wait, I'm confused...is'nt this the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Soap Opera? oh wait...d0h..

I think its funny. Same thing happened to me in s9 just after 3.3.7 came out, and it was kinda annoying, but no big deal. You come outta the dock in a 'war', lign some poor bastard up with your hog'o'death, pull the trigger and nothing, that nothing lasts a long time too.

Then it happened constantly to Arolte in s7 and i couldn't stop laughing...

Have you noticed that there're ALOT less swarmspammers from docks now? Leave it as it is! :P
Nov 25, 2003 Arolte link
This has nothing to do with swarm spamming or station mining. Even fighters can get raped right out of the station. Fortunately it won't be left as it is.
