Hello! I've noticed that the Trident does not disappear anymore when you log out. It sits in space until either you log in and dock it to M7 or somebody finds it and wrecks it of course.
Is this intended? I thought the persistence was 5 minutes and then it disappeared.

This, if a bug, should be kept.
No, it should not be kept. It makes abosolutely no sense to have the Trident staying in space longer than 5 minutes. It is plenty of time for a proceeding attack to be finished.
I am not saying this because I fear for my Trident so much, it's simply because it is completely unfair to Trident Captains. You'd technically be forced to fly to M7 if you stay logged out for longer than 1 or2 days, because the likelihood of being found rises exponentially...
If there were more Trident docking stations scattered around grey space (like 4 or 5), then sure, make it permanently persistent. But also do that for other ships logging out in space :)

I basically agree with Sieger, other than I do think five minutes is pretty low (15 would be better) and I think they should also continue persisting as long as there are other players within sector-list range. But yeah, true permanent persistence shouldn't really happen until capital ship stations have been deployed.
But you can take it to any sector, turbo for a bit in any direction, and be safe? The clipping plane is only 10K for on screen drawing and only 5K on radar, so after 5 mins or so, your trident will be next to impossible to find, especially since ships occlude from the sector list when so far out of range.
You would have to know which sector the trident was parked in to be able to conduct a search.
+1 to keeping unlimited persistence for capital class ships. After all, they ARE basically mobile stations.

This isn't a suggestion post.
If what Sieger says is true, this must be addressed. I don't care one way or the other, but we need to be made aware of a change like this.

Many bugs threads have become suggestions that have actually been implemented greenwall.

We haven't changed the persistence of the player-owned tridents. We're looking into the issue now.
Thanks for the support ticket.

I verified that someone's capship properly ended its persistence after 5 minutes.
Sieger, where did you experience this infinite persistence?

Odia E9. I logged my Trident off in E9 just 2 days ago and the next day a guild mate informed me that 4 hours after my log off, the Trident was still there. I've also logged my Trident off and went to the place with an alt and saw my own Trident floating. I don't know how Long I waited, but I believe it was beyond 5 minutes. The first example however was hours after I logged. Maybe there were sector crashes recently?
Lets focus on more important issues. /givemoney is out of spec when compared to every other command. If a player logs out, the command persists in not being case insensitive. If trident owners could send money more easily, they could leave their trident floating safely, rendering this bug seiger is reporting a moot issue. Let's fix /givemoney.
RP subforum is that way ---->

Nice try greenwall, but the give money disparity is a legitimate bug and arguably a root cause of rogue floating trident malfunctions.

You are trying to use RP as a reason to pull attention away from this potentially very serious issue.

The worst that can happen to an orphaned ship is that it gets killed. Broken givemoney gets people killed. Impact is the same. The bug I'm pointing out has been around longer. Bottom of the pile with you all!
Oh yes. Back to topic please?
This an a known side effect of using the duplication bug. Are you trying to replicate trident parts?
Sigh... No. I am not trying to do that. Mainly because the last serious duplication bug was fixed by ray 2 hours after it occured (and 15 minutes after somebody realized it existed). I just thought I'd inform the devs of this. I should have put in a ticket anyhow. It gets too filled with RP/silly grudges.
Good. The topic is now /givemoney case sensitivity bug.
So is this a non-issue / one time thingy? or were you able to replicate it Sieger?
