possible SuperLite mission bug
Has anyone else had this problem? I've talked to two other players who did.
The Corvus SL is unlocked by taking a difficult bot mission, Corvus System Reconnaisance. Then you take a final mission, High Risk Courier Needed, which unlocks manufacturing authorization for the ship.
I passed the bot part and went on to the final Courier mission at sedina D-14. They give you a SL to fly, armed with WM, and tell you to take a cargo item to UIT space and dock somewhere. You are told that you may be attacked by NPC's and that you should keep going and not engage. You are directed to launch and fly toward Verasi.
There is a lot of PM chatter, and I don't exactly remember everything that happened. It went something like this. After leaving Sedina, I was told to dock at Bractus D-9, which I did. Then I was told to launch and dock at Edras G-11, which I did. Then I was told to launch and head for Verasi. When I reached Verasi O-7, I was hailed by an NPC that told me to stop. I turboed past it and headed for Verasi C-2, although there had been no direction where to go next.
At some point in all this, the mission just ended. I still had the cargo and the ship, and I have no idea where I went wrong. It was logged as a fail, and I did not get the manufacturing authorization.
Did I screw up, or is there a bug in the mission? I thought I followed all the directions. Inc, would you mind double checking the mission? Thanks.

YES -- had same problem. Mission is borked. Please fix!
This is not a bug.
"When I reached Verasi O-7, I was hailed by an NPC that told me to stop. I turboed past it and headed for Verasi C-2"
The NPC that told you to stop is part of the UIT border patrol. If you don't follow its directions, then you will be regarded as hostile, and the mission will fail.
The NPCs that attack you are not UIT (unaligned maybe? I don't remember).

Also, while you have your failed mission super light, the mission won't reappear...so get out and do some PvP with it.
This mission definitely needs some attention. When ARF_01 took it, I ran in to an ion storm and it just mysteriously failed. It hasn't reappeared since.
...so get out and do some PvP with it.
With its paper thin armor and swarm greyhounds being all the rage, I think I'll stick to the race tubes.

Do you mean that the Courier mission *will* reappear if I lose the SL (easy for me to do)? Or do I have to back and do the bot thing again?
I was told it reappeared after you lose the initial SL they give you.
I did some dueling and lost the SL, the courier mission did not return. Guess I'll do the bot part again.
You have to do the bot mission again, but the courier mission will be missing while you have your previous failure trophy.
I had the same thing happen, identical to the top post. In the mission instructions, you are told to avoid being scanned. So I did. I re-took the bot mission (a number of times) until I passed. It said a new mission was available, but none appeared. Then I came across this thread, and saw that I 1) needed to stop for the Gendarmes the first time around, and 2) needed to lose the ship. So I sold the cargo, and lost the ship.
At that point, the courier mission did appear. So I took it, stopped for the cops, went on my merry way, and now I can build all the Superlights I want.
Though by comparing all the available Centurion models, I see it really doesn't have much (if any) advantage over the Border Guardian models. 5 m/s in cruise speed, but 2 m/s less overall Turbo speed than any other Cent. models. It's a lot easier to buy them than make them, I think. Probably less dangerous, too, and the cost/benefit ratio isn't wide enough for me to be really enthused about my new ability to make these ships.
What I'd like to know is what's so special about a Widowmaker that it has to eat 18 grid power? That really tends to limit the weapon to a ship with, oh, I don't know-1 light port. I think maybe 8 or 10 grid is more than enough.

5m/s cruise speed is a massive advantage in PVP and racing in the tubes. The widowmaker requires 18 grid because it's really designed for the Superlight; it has far higher DPS than a single neut of any other type, and an energy drain that would make using two prohibitive, making it perfect for a single-gun ship; one gun is also much lighter than two. The central position of the port on the SL makes it a bit better than the IBG for one-gun setups.
Generally, people stick to racing with Superlights, though. Almost everyone prefers two guns, a slower ship, and an unlimited supply of them to one gun, a really fast ship, and painful manufacturing missions.

I passed the mission, and there is no bug.
You have to follow the directions very exactly. Pay attention to every word.
