locked myself?
Selecting yourself is also helpful in avoiding collisions when you're flying around in cramped spaces. If you're having trouble with spatial awareness, just lock on to yourself and you'll see the exact position of your ship. Although I'd prefer to have something a little more fancy, like perhaps a greyish transparent silhoutte of your ship model as seen from your cockpit (nose cone, wing tips, back seat, etc.). It's a better indicator of where parts of your ship are without restricting your view. Heck, it may help you dodge projectiles more precisely, unlike a bounding box which only plots the extremities of the ship.
Hi! First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Sheean, and play for Itani under the name "newbie.[insertsomenumbers]" (I will change it to "newbie" after the reset).
I really like the game.. but there is a bit too much money (and I won the lotto twice..) so there is not much more to do anymore :(
But I have encountered some very weird bug:
I warped from s5 to s4 and when I got in s4 I somehow locked myself... some red box showed around me. That is ofcourse weird because if I lock on an other blue player the box around him/her is green.. altough being able to lock yourself is even weirder..
I was having quite some lag at that moment (ping avg something like 1100 or so), and am running Linux.

originally you could target yourslef and it would show up as green, indicating you were friendly to yourself. Right? WRONG.
Are you immune to your own weapons? No. Therefore, the red box. The targeting "computer" highlights your target based on whether or not it can do damage to you. Stations? Yes. But are they player controlled? No, so they get labelled yellow, like ice and roids because they are more neutral towards you. Anything red has the ability to damage you at will. Anything green has no ability whatsoever to do so (and claim the kill). this is my opinion, at least it is the most sound one to me.

Yeah, you can select yourself with { and }. The box it draws around you is red. I'm not really sure why it's red; the radar isn't as smart as Celkan thinks. But mostly I don't think anyone cares whether it's red.
The client doesn't necessarily know who can damage whom. (Which is why, by the way, the blue-or-red-character-showing-up-yellow bug is a server side bug)

The radar may or may not be as smart as I think it is, a1k0n, but my way of thinking is one way that makes sense. you ARE able to hurt yourself in this game.
Not with homers. :D My favourite game is to get a dual gemini, single yellowjacket and dual swarm rag, lock onto myself and shoot while boosting. That gets the gemini's behind me so that they track on, and I get surrounded by a halo of hundreds of missiles.
Ow, so it IS a feature... any reason why it is implemented?
So ye can target unusual things. Like me favorite roid, or the exit animation of some person.
No I mean the "lock yourself"-feature, what kind of use does it have?
Yarr! There be one use for this feature, and tis an excellent one.
Ye can watch as homing missles be flying through ye ship.
