Hmmm... apparently the sector 9 situation is getting worse. Today I was attacked by a guy named "The Revenge of BountyBot." And he killed me two or three times. What's the problem? HE'S ON GOLD NATION TEAM!! Other people saw him as Gold Nation also. I locked on to him and tried to fire at him, but he was invincible. Apparently he thought it was amusing so he took it upon himself to exploit this. Just so you know. That is all.

This may very well be the first unofficially documented client-side hack yet. Apparently it allows you to emulate another nation's colors and appear friendly to them, while still being in the same nation as your account. You'll see him as being in your nation and he'll be able to hurt you, but you won't be able to hurt him back.
This particular character was in Blue Nation, and you could see his chat as blue. But in the sector and on the radar, you'd see him being as Gold Nation (which is mine). The only players that was able to hurt him was Red Nation. That's it. And he could go around killing everyone as he pleased, except other Blues.
Anyway, the character "The Revenge of the BountyBot" came out in public chat and admitted to knowing about this. He even decided to have a little fun and kill me twice while cheating, which I didn't take lightly. Nevertheless, if he doesn't report the bug and he continues to exploit it, I'll be more than happy to file a complaint via e-mail with log files attached. In the meantime I'd like to ask the devs and guides to keep an eye on him. Thanks.

I think the more serious issue is if it is indeed a hack, or just a bug.

I don't think it'd be such a big deal if he had control of the hack/exploit....
Apparently he forgets his own abuse of bugs, such as the mine exploit, as well as mining s12 and killing n00bs deliberately..

Fenix, I don't think you were around long enough to see the official discussion of exploits versus bugs, so allow me to explain the difference for you. If I wasn't explicit enough in my previous post, let me type it again--THIS IS A CHEAT. There's a difference between the two so read carefully. Cheats involve "hacking" of the game (usually client side) in order to gain an unfair advantage towards other players. Exploits involve taking advantage of a design flaw within the game itself. The difference is one can be prevented by the players and one cannot. Cheats are usually things which the player can't do anything about to avoid, while exploits are usually avoidable.
It this clear for you now? This isn't a right or wrong discussion. This isn't my opinion. It was decided that these attributes define what is an exploit and what is a bug. Yes, exploits are annoying. But they're not considered cheating because no "hacking" is actually taking place and nobody is preventing you from doing it either. Cheating, on the other hand, gives that one person the advantage over ALL players.
As for your accusation of me using some type of mine bug, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'm not intentionally trying to lag the sector out or cause the l-mine lag bug on anyone particularly. If you were traumatized by some mine bug loophole that was caused by some mines I layed down a while back, I apologize. It was completely unintentional and I wasn't aware of it. Suck it up and report it to the developers rather than whining about it.
On the other hand if you're simply frustrated over me laying down mines inside docks, give it a rest. It's within the game's parameters and it's 100% acceptable whether you like it or not. Yes, it's an exploit, but it's not considered cheating. It will most likely be changed in the future anyway, so it's nothing to lose your head over. For now all you have to do is demine or avoid the docks completely.
And I must admit I did overreact with this particular fellow who cheated. I guess I forgot about the whole reset thing. In any case if it continues I'll be sure to report it promptly so that it'll be dealt with in a professional manner. And if the cheater is reading this now, I'd like to ask that you report any cheats immediately rather than playing around with it and ruining the gameplay for everyone. An explanation or apology IS appropriate when you test a cheat on someone.

How do I know it was "hacked?" Because he admitted to it publicly. I have logs of it. In addition to that, his behavior also seemed to reinforce the idea that he was well aware of his actions.
And, fenix, I did respond to your accusation. But since you're too busy posting flamebait, you didn't even notice. Also, I doubt a dev would hack his own game when he is fully capable of turning FF on and off by himself. Good effort there, Blitz, but try again. Keep those flames burning!

Arolte.. You are way to gullable. If i was to say i have a 4 foot dick, would you believe it? All cause this kid said he hacked it doesn't make it true. It's probably just some simple exploit somewhere in the code that he found and is using it to his advantage.
My advice: Get someone to transfer some cash to a red char of yours and rape these guys till they have size 11 assholes.

Arolte, just because someone brings something up about you that you don't care for, doesnt mean it's a flame war. I think we all need to look at our posts, and grow up a little. Me included.
Some people see hacks and cheats in the shadows lately. Of course I only find this amuseing and encurage it. I think this guy was just useing two characters (simular names) and haveing fun with you.
